📸 Our Annual Photo Competition is back — and this year, we’re letting the images do all the talking.

The shortlisted photographs are in, and now it’s over to you to choose your favourites.

This year, we’ve deliberately left out the photographer’s name, the story behind the image and any commentary. We want each photograph to stand entirely on its own.

Part of the skill of a photographer is being able to tell a story, capture a feeling or send a message through the image they create.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words — what does it say to you?

What catches your eye?
What makes you stop scrolling?
What makes you smile, think, remember or wonder what was happening in that moment?

There’s no set criteria from us — simply vote for the photographs that evoke something in you.

👍❤️😂😮🥰 Every reaction counts as a vote, so make sure you react to the individual photograph, not just this main post.

And you don’t have to choose only one, you can vote for as many photographs as you like.

Voting closes at 12:00 on Saturday 19 September.

Good luck to all of our photographers… even if, for now, you don’t know who they are! 📷

Congratulations to our own CI Robert Murdoch!

🏆 HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to 2489 (Bridge of Don) Squadron Air Training Corps! 🏆

We are incredibly proud to announce that 2489 Sqn has officially been crowned the Top Squadron of North Scotland Wing for 2025!

To mark this incredible milestone, the squadron was presented with the Lady MacRobert Trophy at our annual MacRobert Parade. This award is a massive testament to the hard work, efficiency, and unwavering dedication of both the cadets and the volunteer staff over the past year. 👏✈️

A special thank you goes out to Group Captain Khan, Regional Commandant Scotland & Northern Ireland, who acted as the Reviewing Officer and officially presented the trophy. We were also exceptionally honoured to host several distinguished VIP guests for the occasion, including The Lady Salton, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Aberdeenshire, and Gillian Currie, CEO of the MacRobert Trust.

The day would not have been complete without the fantastic efforts of the cadets from 2367 (Banchory) Squadron and 446 (Forres) Squadron, who paraded brilliantly in support of the event. Thank you for representing the Wing with such high standards!

Th MacRobert Trophy aims to celebrate exactly what the Air Training Corps is all about:
🔹Promoting a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
🔹Providing training that is useful in both the Services and civilian life.
🔹Encouraging a spirit of adventure while developing strong leadership and good citizenship.

A massive well done to everyone involved! 🎉

🇬🇧🥁Armed Forces Day 2026🥁🇬🇧

Today, over 100 cadets and staff from all over North Scotland Wing came together to take part in the Aberdeen Armed Forces Day Parade 2026.

It was an absolute privilege to march alongside veterans, fellow cadet forces, and local community groups to show our support and gratitude for the Armed Forces community. We are incredibly proud of the high standard of drill, turnout, and professionalism displayed by every single cadet today. You are a true credit to the Wing!

A massive thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped make today’s turnout possible, and to the crowds in Aberdeen who came out to cheer us on.

Were you in the crowd watching, or did you have a cadet marching today? Drop a comment and let us know! 👇

Parts of Aberdeenshire have experienced rapidly changing weather conditions today, with sunshine giving way to torrential rain and even snow in Oldmeldrum.

Due to localised flooding, a precautionary evacuation of Meldrum Academy was carried out, with all pupils sent home early.

The safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff remained the top priority throughout and the situation was managed carefully on site.

Property Services are continuing to assess the extent of flood damage and the school will remain closed tomorrow (Wed) with online learning being offered - the school will be keeping parents and carers updated through the usual channels.

Scottish Water has been notified of an issue near Auchterellon School. Signage has been put in place to help ensure the road can remain open and used safely.

While there have been some areas of surface water across Formartine, particularly in and around Ellon and Oldmeldrum, no road closures are currently in place.

Motorists are urged to take extra care, reduce speed and remain alert when driving through affected areas, as surface water is likely to remain on some roads for a time.
