We would like to take a moment to reflect and send appreciation to former Denton and Westerhope councillor, Tracey Mitchell of the Newcastle Independants.

Tracey has kindly passed on casework, in the best interest of residents.

This proactive approach will enable previously raised issues not to lose traction because of a change in local positions. A decision that has put Denton and Westerhope residents above party politics and at the forefront of why we all do this, to best represent our community.

Thank you Tracey and Adam, it is very much appreciated.

KFC Cowgate

We are requesting a food hygiene inspection following sightings of multiple rats running around KFC bin shed, to ensure they have sufficient waste facilities and that the rats have not infiltrated the building

Today, the repairs manager is visiting this property in Denton & Westerhope to secure the open windows, address the flytipping and book in the hedge to be trimmed.

This property was damaged in a fire and has remained derelict.

Your local councillors demanded action from the council, we now have confirmation that the property will be refurbished, however the work required is extensive and there is a legal barrier in beginning the work.

We will work with the housing officer to progress this and get another council home available to rent.

Local councillor Margaret has been out and about reporting several issues with flytipping.

We want to stop this happening!

We have found addresses on the flytipping via prescription medication packaging that was discarded. This has been reported to council enforcement officers to hopefully locate and issue the culprits with a fine.

The trolleys are a real problem in the outer west lately.
Yesterday, councillors Kami and Steven requested a meeting with some of the local supermarkets to find out what they are doing and what they plan to do in relation to the trolleys being abandoned on our streets.
We will work in partnership with the supermarkets to stop this from happening!

For now, if you spot a shopping trolley thats out of place on your travels, you can report to trolleywise (available on the app store) and they will collect and return to store.
