Yep, it's true. Like most small business owners I have to plan well ahead and that means planning Christmas at the height of summer 🏝️. The venues are booked, the listings are done, I've pre-ordered a whole load of pine and yesterday I sold my first two tickets!! 🎄

Belated happy 1st anniversary to the lovely Carmella and James who married at Dulwich College last summer. 🌸

Carmella and her Mum were regular customers at my shop in Beckenham so I was especially pleased to be asked to create her wedding flowers. 🌸

I'm sorry I missed the actual day of your anniversary to congratulate you but I hope you were able to celebrate in style just like you did on your wedding day! 🌸

If you are planning a summer wedding, or event, you might like to consider using dried flowers to safeguard against the vulnerability of fresh flowers and be a little kinder to the planet.

We did this wedding recently at Bromley Old Town Hall for the lovely Anj and Trevor for whom fresh flowers were never an option. They asked for dried flowers straight away and loved what we did for them.

Dried stems offer lots of advantages: they last longer, there's less water wastage and for us florists they are heaven to move around as they weigh next to nothing!

They're not for everyone but if you want something a bit different, they are definitely worth considering especially if your event falls in the middle of summer.

Mini bouquets of flowers attached to chairs make very cute pew ends but on these super hot days how can you reduce the risk of wilting. 🎀

Lots of venues don't have air con, and even with all the right prep, you can't risk floppy flowers on someone's big day. I put these into little jam jars and attached them to the chairs with zip ties then covered the ties with ribbon. 🎀

The flowers stayed beautifully fresh and after the ceremony they were ready to be repurposed on the dining tables. 🎀

Two years today! Happy 2nd anniversary to us 😊❤️

I waited a very long time to get married, 63 years in fact, so this really was a very special day. I cried so much during the ceremony that I thought I was never going to complete my vows, the registrar kept handing me tissues and David wasn't sure what to do but eventually I managed to get the words out, all was fine and we had a beautiful day that we will treasure forever 😊❤️

If you're getting married this summer I hope the sun shines for you now and always - and make sure you have tissues! ❤️

This heatwave has reminded me of a beautiful but challenging wedding that we did last July for the lovely Carmella and James at Dulwich College.

It was the hottest day of the year - the hottest week - and we had a lot of flowers to keep fresh and perky. The hardest part was working on site. Adding finishing touches to table arrangements, re-working and moving flowers from the chapel to the dining room which was of course up a huge flight of stairs - there was only a small, li
temperamental lift - but we did our job, we employed all of our skills and experience, and everyone was happy with the end result. We were all drenched in sweat for most of the day but it was worth it to make this bride and her family so happy and to get the amazing feedback that she gave us.

That experience and those skills come at a price so that's why wedding flowers are expensive because you're not just paying for flowers 🌸
