There have been many misrepresentations of Green Party immigration policy, particularly when it comes to asylum seekers. How many critics with strong opinions have actually read our manifesto?

Our policy is:
• to treat asylum seekers with respect and dignity while deciding whether to approve their application
• allow asylum seekers to work while their application is being processed rather than relying on a tiny stipend of £49.18 a week
• offer safe routes to sanctuary, which would include allowing those in need of asylum to apply from their current location.

The last policy alone would be transformative, as under the current law, the people desperately in need of safety from persecution often have to sell all their assets in order to pay people-traffickers thousands of pounds to get them onto UK soil before they can apply for asylum.

The Green Party is seeking to solve problems. Reform is seeking to pour fuel on the fire.

Once again Reform have reached for the politics of divide and conquer with their threat to treat migrants (not “illegals”) as a weapon. We have had decades of dehumanising and vilifying migrants; Reform only seek to double-down on a failed status quo.

Today a number of our members went to Seaton Carew to speak to locals on the seafront with our candidate for Seaton, Mia Brown.

What a glorious day for leafletting in the Victoria ward for our candidate Connor Dorrian, pictured with fellow party member Sarah. That's almost 4000 leaflets distributed.

We’re supporting the Big River Watch 🏞️👀

Our rivers are far from healthy. They’re polluted with sewage, plastic, and chemicals. Between the 24th and 30th April, help us take action in our local area.

Help us support Andy’s Man Club in Roseworth 💚💬 We’re rounding up some small gifts and meeting snacks for the volunteers who dedicate their time to su***de prevention in the local area.

Donations can be dropped off with us at meetings and events over the next couple of weeks.
