We’re going back to 1996. ⚓

This September marks 30 years since The Golden Hinde arrived at St Mary Overie Dock - and to celebrate, we’re turning back the clock on our ticket prices!

On Saturday 12 September, from 12-4pm, step aboard for the same admission price visitors paid back in 1996:

Adults – £2
Children – £1

For one afternoon only, explore The Golden Hinde at our historic 1996 admission prices and help us celebrate three decades here on Bankside.

To celebrate 30 years since The Golden Hinde sailed into St Mary Overie Dock, we’re bringing something back from the year it all began.

Remembering the incomparable Tim Curry, whose portrayal of Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island remains one of the most beloved pirate performances ever put to screen.

We were honoured that The Golden Hinde played a small part in that much-loved film.

Thirsty Thursdays Update

We’ve been so excited to see such a fantastic response to our Thirsty Thursdays! Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to cancel our upcoming event on Thursday 20 August.

We’re hopeful that Thursday 27 August will go ahead as planned, and we’d love to welcome you aboard then.

One week to go until our next Museum Late aboard The Golden Hinde!

From storms and navigation to food, illness and isolation, Survival at Sea explores the challenges faced by sailors on long-distance voyages through a relaxed evening of short talks, informal interpretation and after-hours exploration of the ship.

🍻 The Hinde Bar will be open throughout the evening, making this the perfect opportunity to enjoy history, atmosphere and a drink on deck.

Our ship’s Botanist hard at work this half-term, introducing visitors to the herbs, spices and curious remedies that Tudor sailors carried aboard The Golden Hinde.

From cloves and pepper to unexpected treatments for illness at sea, these hands-on sessions have been bringing the fascinating world of Tudor medicine to life in the atmospheric surroundings of the ship’s hold.
There’s still time to join us before the end of half-term and discover how crews stayed healthy on long voyages across the globe.

A huge thank you to BBC London for featuring the ship following Tuesday’s Flagship of the Year 2026 ceremony, and to everyone who has supported us throughout our 30 years in Bankside.

From shipwrights and educators to performers, volunteers, visitors and community partners - this recognition belongs to all the people who continue to keep this ship alive as a space for heritage, culture and creativity in the heart of London.
