The Embassy notes with concern recent portrayals of the Filipino diaspora in the United Kingdom that do not accurately reflect its character and contributions.

The Embassy believes that isolated expressions of anti-immigrant sentiment are not representative of the wider British society. The longstanding relationship between the Filipino and British people is marked by mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation, which continues to be evident in their daily interactions.

The Embassy remains confident in the strength of these relations and in the British people's continued appreciation of the contributions of the Filipinos to the United Kingdom.

The Embassy hopes that public discourse on migration will remain fair, respectful, and informed by the experiences and contributions of the many communities that form part of British society.

The Philippine Embassy in London was pleased to join the commencement of the Critical Minerals Mission to the UK at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office today, with Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. delivering the opening remarks.

As the Philippines and the UK mark 80 years of diplomatic relations, the mission offers an opportunity to give fresh substance to this enduring friendship through cooperation in responsible mining, mineral processing, investment, and advanced manufacturing.

Ambassador Locsin underscored the importance of moving beyond raw mineral exports to build greater value at homeโ€”connecting the mine to the mill, the mill to the factory, and Philippine resources to industries of the future. He also emphasized that economic opportunity must go hand in hand with environmental protection, transparency, and the welfare of affected communities. ๐ŸŒฑ

From the riches beneath our soil to the prosperity we can build together, the Philippines and the UK look forward to strengthening partnerships that turn mineral resources into lasting industrial value and shared opportunities for our peoples.

Ambassador Locsin joins the ASEAN London Committee in meeting Indo-Pacific Minister Baroness Winterton

Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. joined the ASEAN London Committee for an introductory call on The Rt Hon Baroness Winterton of Doncaster, FCDO Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Indo-Pacific, today, to discuss advancing ASEANโ€“UK cooperation and translating shared priorities into tangible opportunities for both sides.

As the current ASEAN Chair, Ambassador Locsin welcomed the United Kingdomโ€™s admission as the 28th member of the ASEAN Regional Forum and the approval of the ASEANโ€“UK Plan of Action for 2027โ€“2031, underscoring the importance of dialogue, regional stability, and practical cooperation.

Baroness Winterton reaffirmed the UKโ€™s commitment to engaging with ASEAN and the region, respecting ASEAN Centrality, and pursuing cooperation in various areas of mutual benefit, including emerging technologies, climate change, energy, and growth.

The Philippine Embassy in London congratulates the Philippine Marines on their silver medal achievement at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2026, bringing pride and honor to the country and showcasing the professionalism and excellence of Filipino military personnel on the international stage.

The Philippine Marines secured silver medals at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2026, the British Armyโ€™s premier patrolling competition, widely regarded as one of NATOโ€™s toughest military challenges. Held from 07 to 10 October 2026 in Brecon, Wales, this yearโ€™s competition brought together a record 140 patrols, including 35 international teams, making it the largest edition since the exercise began in 1959.

The Philippine contingent demonstrated exceptional endurance, tactical proficiency, and teamwork as they navigated a gruelling 60-kilometre course across the mountainous terrain of the Brecon Beacons within 48 hours. Carrying loads of up to 32 kilograms, participating teams were assessed on 11 demanding military scenarios, including reconnaissance, casualty management, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives response, and trench warfare.

The silver medal achievement marks another proud milestone for the Philippines, which first participated in the prestigious exercise in 2017 and is now marking its ninth year of participation.

Exploring Opportunities in Life Sciences and Innovation: Visit to AstraZeneca

Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, together with members of the Philippine delegation, visited the global corporate headquarters and flagship research facility of AstraZeneca in Cambridge.

The delegation was briefed on AstraZenecaโ€™s operations in the Philippines, including the opportunities and challenges affecting its continued growth and expansion in the country. The discussion also explored how government and industry can work together to address existing bottlenecks, strengthen the investment environment, and create conditions that enable the Philippines to capture greater opportunities in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors.

The delegation was also given a tour of AstraZenecaโ€™s facilities and the surrounding Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the UKโ€™s leading concentrations of biomedical research, healthcare, and life sciences expertise.

The Cambridge model offers useful lessons for the Philippines. Bringing research institutions, universities, hospitals, technology companies, pharmaceutical firms, and other life sciences stakeholders into closer proximity can help accelerate the movement of ideas from research to application, encourage collaboration and innovation, attract high-value investments, create skilled employment, and strengthen the countryโ€™s capacity to develop and manufacture health technologies and medicines.

For the Philippines, exploring how elements of this ecosystem could be adapted to local conditions presents an opportunity to build not simply individual investments, but a stronger and more connected life sciences ecosystemโ€”one that links Philippine talent and capabilities with global research, innovation, and investment networks.

The visit underscored the value of continued government-industry dialogue in translating opportunities into partnerships and in building a more competitive, innovative, and resilient Philippine health and life sciences sector.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง From investment to innovation, stronger connections can help build a healthier future.
