It seems Development Corporation are the approving authority for Hellens Group application to develop land on Queens Meadow for an AI-optimised data centre.

Having placed a Freedom of Information request to HBC, we were advised that it was not in their remit.. A little further digging shows that it is HDC who approved the planning proposal and that our very own local MP, Jonathan Brash is in favour of the development, see here: https://datacentrenews.uk/story/hartlepool-darlington-bid-to-host-new-ai-growth-zone

Queens Meadow has already been identified as local wildlife area by HBC and with concerns around noise, water and electrical consumption, we will be holding HDC to account and campaigning for permission to be retracted.

Jonathan Brash MP for Hartlepool please sign this motion to protect nature rights. Maybe then you might realise that building an AI data centre on Queens Meadow is not a smart move.

🌱 Change starts locally.

National politics often gets most of the attention, but the path to Westminster starts in our own communities.

For the Hartlepool Green Party, that means building something locally, listening to residents, supporting our community, campaigning on the issues that matter and getting more people involved.

We don’t get to Westminster without strong local foundations. And we don’t build those foundations without people willing to give a little of their time, share their ideas and get involved.

Whether that’s helping with a campaign, delivering a few leaflets, coming along to a local meeting, standing for council, or simply having conversations with your neighbours, every bit of involvement makes a difference.

And who knows? The person who gets involved today could be the councillor of tomorrow, or perhaps one day, Hartlepool’s next Green MP.

🚌 BUS STOPS IN HARTLEPOOL - WHERE'S THE INFORMATION?

Recent photos from around Hartlepool show a concerning trend with the newly branded bus stops: none display which bus routes actually stop there.

As someone who uses regular services, I know experienced commuters can manage without this info. But anyone new to the area—or less familiar with local routes—is left guessing whether they're at the right stop.

Questions for Ben Houchen and Tees Valley Combined Authority -

* How much has been spent rebranding bus stops across Tees Valley?
* Was omitting route numbers a deliberate design choice?
* How does removing essential passenger information align with goals to encourage bus use?

The rebranding looks modern, but usability matters more than aesthetics. People need to know WHERE they can go from each stop.

Happy to share photographic evidence with anyone interested. Local residents deserve transparency on this spending decision.

We've placed a freedom of information request to Hartlepool Borough Council to uncover how far this proposal is
is.
"Please provide copies of correspondence, reports, feasibility studies, meeting minutes and other documents held by the Council concerning the proposed AI Growth Zone/data-centre development at Queens Meadow, including documents relating to electricity capacity, water supply, transport, environmental assessment, economic benefits, community benefits and proposed planning arrangements."


Watch this space..

Hartlepool and Darlington have submitted a bid for an AI Growth Zone, centred on 450MVA data centre power and hundreds of skilled jobs.
