The link below is to the Biggar Economics Residents survey for those who live on the NC500 route and nearby.

Biggar Economics needs as many responses as possible, be they positive or negative – as long as they represent the truth and actual experience of residents. Answers to questions should be based on respondents’ own personal experiences rather than on anecdotal.

It's a good opportunity to inform Biggar and make clear what problems and opportunities the route has created for residents and their families.
The survey closes on December 24th

Whilst most folk who visit this page are tourists, I'm aware that there are also many local business who also visit and that many of our visitors are recurring and have made friends with local businesses, so please share this as widely as possible so that Biggar Economics can have an idea of both the opportunities and the responsibilities that the route has created.

Biggar Economics has been commissioned by NC500 to undertake an impact report to assess the impact of the route and develop a framework to monitor progress in the future.

It's important that all businesses which operate along the route have their say and represent their communities.

We have to ensure that the benefits are more than increased revenue for local businesses and job creation, but also include infrastructure investment, community resilience and community collaboration, so that we can have a say on what is being promoted and when so that it suits those who live and work in the area.

The survey will be open until 23rd December.

By now many of you might have read about the damage done to Ardvreck Castle, whereby unknown people pulled stones from the walls to create stepping stones across the water to save their little tootsies from getting wet.

This is the latest vandalism carried out on the Castle which includes the destruction and theft of the collection box, the use of the grounds as an impromptu camping ground, an open air toilet and of course it being used as a jungle gym for the hard of thinking adventurers who decided to scale the castle walls.

The good news is that Highland council will be commencing work on refurbishing the car park early next year. Historic Assynt have done a power of work in preserving a nationally important monument of Scotland's history.

I have no doubt that many of our visitors will want to help preserve the site of what is one of the most awe inspiring images in Scotland.

So, in place of the collection box there is now a QR code sign for visitors to donate digitally to the restoration and any future repairs.

If you wish to donate today you can do so either by pointing your camera phone at the QR code below or clicking on this Just Giving link.
