CALLING ALL KNITTERS & CROCHETERS
As part of an ongoing project friendly club Mondays
We could do with some help!!
I am appealing to anyone who can knit or crochet has some odd bits of wool or can spare a few pounds to buy some yarn.
If you could make baby hats knitted or crocheted so we can send them out to special care baby units local, around the country and to places abroad (via snail mail) where they are not as fortunate as us, to live in a country where we have the NHS….
You can drop the hats off at the friendly club Llangedwyn on a Monday between 10am - 2pm. If you can’t make the Monday please drop them off at Penybont Stores anytime. Much appreciated. Lesley.

Every spring, nestled in the misty bends of Wales’ narrowest B-roads, a strange and magnificent creature returns: the elusive Welsh Araf. Recently brought back from extinction by a coalition of druids, vegans, and retired traffic wardens, the Araf is believed to be a distant cousin of the Scottish Haggis – though with better table manners and a fondness for daffodils.

The Araf is a glorious chimera – half dragon, half haggis, and half confused. Covered in shaggy red tartan fur, it sports tiny wings that flap furiously but achieve very little. Its nose resembles a Leek, and its roar sounds suspiciously like a traffic cone being kicked down a hill.

This time of year is peak mating season, which means they’re prone to gathering on country lane corners, performing elaborate courtship dances involving jazz hands and slow-motion cartwheels. You’ll often spot them near road signs marked "ARAF | SLOW" – which isn’t a warning for you, dear driver, but rather a bilingual mating call left lovingly by Welsh road painters to alert passing Arafs that a potential partner is nearby.

If you're driving through Wales and see one? Brake gently, offer it a Greggs pasty, and whisper something soothing in Welsh (or just hum the Casualty theme). Remember – the Arafs were nearly wiped out by speeding Ford Fiestas in the 90s.

So when you’re in Wales, don’t just slow down for the sheep… mind the Arafs. They’re majestic, mildly flammable, and possibly looking for love.

We have had notification from Oswestry Borderland Rotary that the annual Christmas Parade planned for tomorrow is 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃. This is due to Storm Darragh which is forecast to bring heavy rain and winds to our area.
