💛 World Su***de Prevention Day – 10 September
Let’s start the conversation.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re encouraging people across Lincolnshire to talk openly about mental health and su***de, break down stigma and help people feel able to ask for support.

Talking about su***de does not increase the risk. Asking someone if they are having suicidal thoughts can help them feel heard, understood and supported.

💬 A simple question could make a real difference.

If you’re struggling, or worried about someone else, support is available:

📞 Mental health crisis support
Call NHS 111 and select Option 2 – available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

📱 ChatHealth Lincolnshire
Under 18s: 07480 635303
Adults 18+: 07312 263027
Confidential mental health and wellbeing support, 24/7.

🏥 Urgent face-to-face support
The Mental Health Urgent Assessment Centre (MHUAC) at the Peter Hodgkinson Centre, Lincoln County Hospital, provides urgent mental health support.

🚨 If someone is in immediate danger or their life is at risk, call 999 or attend the nearest Emergency Department (A&E).

You don’t need to have all the answers. Starting the conversation, listening and helping someone find support can be a vital first step. 💛

Pets can often be a barrier to leaving an abusive relationship.

Juno Women’s Aid operates a Pet Foster Project in Lincolnshire that plays a crucial role in supporting those fleeing domestic abuse. Recognising that pets are often used by abusers as tools of control—through threats, harm, or coercion—the project provides a lifeline by offering temporary foster care for family pets.

This service ensures that survivors can leave unsafe environments without the fear of leaving their beloved animals behind.

If you think a friend or family member is experiencing domestic abuse, here’s what you can do:
• Recognise the Signs – Look for physical injuries, isolation, fearfulness, or major behaviour changes.
• Approach Gently – Speak privately, express concern without judgment, and listen with empathy.
• Offer Support, Not Pressure – Reassure them it’s not their fault. Don’t push them to leave—respect their pace.
• Share Resources – Provide them with details of local support services.
• Respect Their Choices – They may not be ready to leave. Stay supportive and patient.
• Care for Yourself Too – Supporting someone in abuse situations can be emotionally difficult.

If you are being stalked or know someone who is, don’t:
• Assume stalking isn’t serious because no violence has occurred
• Share information with the stalker
• Encourage contact with the stalker.

Boundaries are part of healthy relationships. It’s important to put boundaries in place to protect your emotional and physical wellbeing.

Examples of boundaries:
• I need time for myself,
• Please don’t raise your voice at me,
• I don’t feel comfortable with that.
Healthy boundaries create respect and trust. Set them. Honour them.
