An update from our ward councillor Saverio on Marston Rd closures. Thanks for your efforts Saverio. Please be aware the weekday vegetation clearance works as per the EWR Letter from 7 September to 25 September Monday to Friday between 9am to 3pm will be done with temporary traffic lights, just in case there is any confusion.

‼️EWR Permissive Bridleway closures – Granary Wood‼️

Residents should have received a letter from EWR/National Rail to inform them of road closures of Marston Road, but we wanted to highlight there will also be Permissive Bridleway closures at Granary Wood. Please see image with details of the closures.

The Parish Council do not agree with this, and we are following this up with EWR, along with the CBC ward councillors.

We suggest if you want to raise this, complain to East West Rail Alliance by phone at 03457 11 41 41 or by email at [email protected]

There is also an App available called EWRA MVLA, which provides updates to the programme of works.

We have invited EWR to attend the next Parish Council, (not confirmed). Residents are welcome to join, Monday 7th September, 7pm at the Church Hall.

As residents may have seen, from envelopes dropping through your doors, the village faces significant disruption in the coming weeks with the closure of Marston Road at the rail crossing, to enable preliminary works by Network Rail/East West Rail for the construction of a new road bridge to replace the existing automatic barriers.

The road will be closed weekdays, Monday to Friday between 7th and 25th September from 0900 to 1500

Further overnight weekend closures will occur each Saturday evening from 2300 to 0300 Monday morning on weekends of 5, 12, 19 and 26 September.

Daytime closures will also occur Monday to Friday between 19th October and 20th November from 0800 to 1700 daily.

Despite the hot summer, the 'Friends of Lidlington Station' have been hard at work maintaining the troughs and tubs funded by the Parish Council. A huge thank you to the team — it's looking wonderful!

Your Parish Council is delighted to report that we now have a new Parish Councillor. Lisa Wakefield, who has lived in the village for three years has joined us this month. We look forward to working with her to try to make Lidlington an even better place to live.

However, that still leaves us with seven councillor places filled, and two vacancies. If you think you can help us, please contact any councillor, our clerk Lizzie Barnicoat (email [email protected]) or message us on here.

Following last night's horror story concerning the playground, we're pleased to report that this morning's inspection revealed no repeats. Thank you once again to the gentleman who sorted and cleaned up.
We do have a request to users of the playground, and their children, however. Not for the first time, large dead tree branches have been pulled out of the side hedges and piled up on the grass. This is a hazard for the grass cutting contractors and, at the present time in particular, a significant fire hazard.
Can we please ask this to stop. Thank you.

The new Local Plan will help shape how Central Bedfordshire grows up to 2050. It will set out how the area can meet future needs for homes, jobs and infrastructure, while creating and maintaining great places to live, protecting the countryside, green spaces, historic places and the character of local communities.

We are aware of the overgrown vegetation at Heydon Close, and have been chasing BPHA and Snowden Homes. Unfortunately this is BPHA’s response ‘Our estates team are aware of the condition and are arranging for a contractor to strim the areas abutting our pathways within the areas owned by bpha.
Trees and shrubs are to be reviewed later in the year once conditions are favourable for planting. May I suggest future correspondence removes Snowdon Homes as they are not responsible for ongoing maintenance.’

We will raise this at this weeks Parish Council and ask Ward Councillors to see if they can pursue. In the meantime we suggest any residents to directly complain to BPHA.
