Abby Harcus competed in u20s 400m final. In blustery conditions she ran a good race with a strong finish to secure 5th place and a pb with 65.02secs.

Reeta Moncrieff Aith Junior High School was in u18s 800m final in windy conditions ran a great race in a seasons best 2.21.63 and secured 6th place out of 10.

Jake Crossan was next up in u20s 800m final.
The wind kept blowing but Jake ran really strong composed race in 2.07.63 to secure silver medal. A brilliant performance and just reward for all his hard work.

A team of 12 athletes from Shetland Amateur Athletics Club all ready for Scottish Schools Championships at Grangemouth Stadium.
Representing Aith Junior High School and Anderson High School, Lerwick the athletes will be competing in u16s, u18s and u20s across track and field events on Friday and Saturday.
We would like to thank NorthLink Ferries for their continued support.

S6 attended their 'Getting Involved' event yesterday afternoon. Thanks to all partners and organisations who took time out of their day to spend time talking to pupils about some of the opportunities available locally to volunteer and give something back to the school and the local community. If any community organisation wishes to be considered next year please do get in touch if you have volunteering opportunities available🙂

Thanks to all staff who represented departments and opportunities within Anderson High School. Thanks also to Ability Shetland Shetland Sport and Leisure Voluntary Action Shetland Volunteering OPEN Shetland for coming along.

NHS Skills Bus

18 Advanced Higher Biologists started the new school session by participating in an escape room style workshop at the NHS Skills Van. The pupils experienced stations involving CPR, AED’s, Medical Imaging, Pharmaceutical calculations, Dentistry, Classifying pressure ulcers, weighted body suits/eye conditions & talks from Brian Chittick (NHS Shetland Chief Executive), Paula McDonald (Biomedical Scientist), Louise Anderson (Pharmacist) & Karen Tekin (Substance misuse & ADHD lead). Special thanks to Tracy (Resuscitation Practitioner & Education, Clinical skills) for leading the event. What a brilliant start to session 2026-2027!

S6 pupils Ena Priest and Liam Manson have completed the level 5 Young STEM leader program. They formed and ran the Engineering Club, creating challenges based around different areas of engineering. All pupils involved loved the hands on activities and testing their creations! Well done Ena and Liam! Pictured here with Miss Hand.

⭐️🥇AHS SPORTS DAY🥇⭐️

Yesterday, AHS Sports Day brought an exciting day of competition for pupils in S2–S4. Over the past six weeks, students have been competing in their P.E. classes for a place in each event final.

We were incredibly impressed by the high standard of competition, as well as the determination, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship shown by everyone throughout the day. Results from each event can be found in the photos below.

Miss Wiseman’s ‘25-26 3F1 and 3H classes completed a mammoth project just in time for timetable changeover. The classes were given the design brief to create a masquerade mask inspired by the theme “Aliens Under the Sea”. Pupils then went through the entire design process, from research, development, and idea realisation to create these beautiful, other worldly creations. A wonderful end to a fantastic year in Art and Design. Lots of these young people are taking the skills learned in this project into their National 5 design units this year – we are excited to see what they come up with in a years’ time!
