Our Support Workers are there to support, encourage and empower the people we support to enjoy life, try new things and make the most of every day. And sometimes, that means getting to meet some very cute little visitors along the way! 🥹💙

Nearly 11 years ago, Lisa joined SIL after 24 years working in the Department for Work and Pensions. Social care was a completely new sector for her, but that didn’t stop her from building an incredible career with us.

Starting as a new face in a new sector, Lisa progressed to Deputy Manager and is now a Registered Manager of our ILH service. Along the way, we supported her development, including helping her complete her Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care.

Lisa’s story is proof that a job at SIL can be so much more than a job, it can be the start of a long, rewarding career.

If you’re a small, volunteer-led organisation making a difference to people across Herefordshire, you could be eligible for up to £𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱.

The fund has been set up to provide financial support to local voluntary organisations, helping them continue to provide valuable services within their communities.

We’ve seen first-hand the difference that support like this can make. Take the 5 & 10 Club, a friendly and inclusive group that meets every Monday evening at the cycle track on the racecourse. SIL previously donated an adapted trike to the club, helping to make cycling more accessible and giving more people the opportunity to experience the freedom and independence that comes from being active in their community.

Jim Kenyon from the 5 & 10 Club told us just how much that support has meant:
"You have given people freedom, escapism and independence away from their normal lives." 💙

𝗧𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁:
• Have a turnover of less than £500,000
• Deliver services through volunteers
• Deliver services within Herefordshire
• Support people who are disadvantaged
• Be able to show how the funding has been spent
• Provide a short summary of the difference the funding has made
• Have not received funding through the scheme within the last 12 months

Organisations can apply for up to £𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬, and the fund could provide that extra bit of support needed to keep an important local service going.

📢 We’re hiring: Homecare Co-ordinator 📢

Are you organised, proactive and passionate about helping people live independently? 💙

We’re looking for a Homecare Co-ordinator to join our team in Leominster, helping to make sure our Homecare service runs smoothly and that both the people we support and our Support Workers have the right support in place.

This is a varied role combining service coordination, staff support and administration, including:

✨ Managing Support Worker rotas and staffing levels
✨ Supporting staff with inductions, training and supervision
✨ Monitoring support plans and quality standards
✨ Acting as a key point of contact for service users, families and professionals
✨ Supporting with audits, payroll and general administration
✨ Taking part in our shared management on-call rota

We’re looking for someone with experience in care coordination, scheduling, administration or a supervisory role within health and social care, who is highly organised, a confident communicator and able to manage competing priorities.

💷 £27,651 per year
📍 Leominster
🕐 Full-time
