💊 Have you struggled to get the medicine you need?

We’re hearing concerns from local people about shortages of prescription medicines and the difficulties they can cause.

Cllr Chris Leaman has launched a new survey to find out how medicine shortages are affecting people across Central Bedfordshire.

If you’ve had to visit several pharmacies, wait for medication to become available, or go back to your GP for an alternative prescription, we want to hear from you.

Your experiences will help us build a clearer picture of what’s happening locally and press for action.

A huge win for Lib Dem MP Tom Gordon and campaigners. From April, disabled people will be entitled to free bus travel 24 hours a day.

Free local bus travel is a vital lifeline for many disabled people.

After an almost two-year campaign the Government has finally listened to Liberal Democrat calls to stop restrictions to disabled bus passes.

Disabilities don’t start at 9.30am. Neither should disabled bus passes.

Liberal Democrat Town Councillor for Parkside on Houghton Regis Town Council, Councillor Elaine Cooper has launched a petition calling for Arriva to restore bus services from Parkside to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and the Houghton Regis Medical Centre.

Residents in Houghton Regis say changes to bus services have made it harder to reach key destinations, affecting elderly and disabled passengers.

📢 LIB DEMS DEFEAT REFORM IN PARKSIDE, HOUGHTON REGIS

Newly elected Houghton Regis Councillor Sarah King has thanked the residents who supported her in yesterday's by-election in the Parkside ward.

The Liberal Democrats gained the seat on the Town Council last night, defeating Reform UK.

After successive defeats to Reform UK for the Conservatives and Labour in Dunstable, the Liberal Democrats have shown that only they can defeat Nigel Farage’s Reform UK across our local area.

Sarah King, the newly elected Lib Dem Councillor for Parkside, said:

"A huge thank you to the people of Parkside for putting their faith in me. Whether you voted for me or not, I am here to represent the whole community. My pledge to you all is to follow the example of Liberal Democrat Councillors who serve the people of Houghton Regis, to work all year round and to listen to local residents.

“I'm looking forward to getting stuck into my new Councillor role, supporting and fighting for the many families with children who have special educational needs, campaigning for the policing we need and working hard to bring much needed community facilities to Parkside and Houghton Regis."

With hot weather forecast for this week, our waste and recycling crews will be starting a little earlier to help them work in the cooler part of the day.
Collections will begin from around 6.20am to 6.30am instead of the usual 7am start, so please make sure your bins are out the night before or by 6am on your collection day.
As previous years, crews will return for any bins missed because they weren’t presented in time. Please spread the word to friends and neighbours who may not see this message. ♻️
