This Saturday, as part of Drowning Prevention Week, we'll be holding a water safety event at Watermead Country Park, in association with the local Parkrun.

Each year, hundreds of people in the UK accidentally drown, with the summer seeing the highest occurrence of these preventable tragedies. More than half of them happen inland, not on the coast or out at sea.

Come along to our event, and meet guests from the RNLI, the Royal Life Saving Society, Swim England and other groups, to learn the do's and don'ts of water safety this Saturday 20th June, from 8:30 to 11am.

127, Leicester - Loughborough - Shepshed
Variation to Sunday only buses will run via Woodhouse Road, Chaveney Road and Meeting Street. Sunday journeys alternate serving Woodhouse Road, with the other journeys serving normal route around Quorn.
There is NO CHANGE to the timetable, or routing on Monday to Saturday.

Sometimes being a councillor means going to a council meetings (kind of obvious).
You read the papers, do the research and show up.
Today was Charnwood Borough Council and Mountsorrel Parish Council. So I started at Charnwood as it started earlier, and submitted written reports to Mountsorrel intending to go on there if Charnwood finished earlier. It didn’t.
But I’m finally home now, in time for a small slice of birthday cake!
(candles are only vaguely indicative. I did not want to visit from the fire brigade!)

Our Community Gym is on tomorrow. It's a really great accessible gym session for everyone who isn't a "gym person". If you'd like to get moving and learn some exercise and strength techniques at your own pace then come along.

100 years of Shelthorpe.
Shelthorpe was one of the original garden suburbs, built after the First World War as modern ‘homes for heroes’, with shops and services all as part of the mix.
I was here today as part of my role as cabinet lead for Neighbourhoods and Communities, supporting my fellow councillors Anne Gray, Bev Gray and Sarah Maynard who represent Shelthorpe Ward.
Being a councillor isn’t all about the meetings, sometimes it’s about showing up to events like these.
