The streets were full of smiles, cheers, and people raising a glass together.

That’s the spirit of VE Day — remembering the moment peace was finally celebrated.

Today at The Linford, we’re raising a glass to those who served and sacrificed. As a thank you, all past and present armed forces members are invited in for a free pint or glass of wine.

To our members, If you served, or know someone who has, come and join us today — and feel free to tag them below so we can celebrate together.

It’s also our Golden Happy Hours today from 4–7pm, so there’s even more reason to join us. See you at the bar as we raise a glass to mark the occasion.

81 Years ago today, the Nation Breathed a sigh of relief- for in Europe, the Second World War was over. VE Day.
For many Leicestershire Service Personnel who were serving further afield, they would have to hold on until VJ Day, when it was the ultimate close to the War.
We Remember them ALL. Every single person who endured those horrific years. True Grit. Humbling & Inspirational.
For our tomorrow, they gave their today.

Anstey Branch has scored a ‘Hat Trick’ and more!

On 17th January 2026, several of our branch members joined other Royal British Legion representatives at the Annual County Conference where once again, the branch stood out from the crowd and was awarded the ‘Bob Hart’ Cup for the 3rd year running for the largest membership increase of a small branch (66%). Furthermore, the Branch achieved a first for its perseverance and determination by bringing it back from near extinction for which the’ Jack Quain Cup for Endeavour’ was awarded. No mean feat as the last time this cup was awarded was 2015-2016, ten years ago. The Branch and its members can be rightly proud of what they have achieved and throughout the year, they have ensured that the Branch has been a major player in the local community and surrounding area.

Unfortunately, we will be promoted to the Big Boys league if we continue to grow so this will be the last time the Branch will be eligible for the ‘Bob Hart’ Cup however, that makes us even more determined to continue with the success at a much higher level so the challenge is on. With such a dedicated and enthusiastic team, we are silently confident that we can only go from strength to strength
