Happy Volunteers' Week! 🎉

On Tuesday, we held a special celebration event to recognise our incredible volunteers, who generously donate around 21,000 hours of their time each year.

From sharing the history of Harewood with visitors, helping to clean and conserve our precious collections, maintaining 140 acres of Gardens and Grounds, driving our access shuttle bus, running our Secondhand Bookshop, cataloguing our library books and helping with family activities, their contribution is felt across every part of the Trust.

A particular highlight of the afternoon was recognising volunteers celebrating 10 and 20 years volunteer service, with special badges, cards and flowers from the gardens, lovingly made into bouquets by fellow volunteers.

Harewood simply wouldn't be the same without our volunteers. Their dedication, enthusiasm and generosity help make everything we do possible, and we are incredibly grateful for the time and care they give. 💙

If you'd like to volunteer at Harewood, please find current opportunities on our website.

It’s your last chance to wander through the East side of the House and experience these beautiful works up close.

Discover paintings such as Seed Time by Charlotte Verity from The Season Following. This work sits among others that evoke the height of summer, delicate flowers emerging from a soft light-blue background, grounded by a warm orange band along the bottom of the canvas. The colours and forms capture the quiet abundance and rhythm of the season 🌼

Don’t miss the opportunity to see the exhibition before it closes on Sunday 7 June.

Coming this month to Harewood ...

Cecil Beaton: Staging Icons (13 June - 4 October 2026) 📸

Step into the glamorous world of Cecil Beaton, the legendary photographer who captured some of the most iconic figures of the 20th century, from Hollywood legends and stars of the West End to the British royal family.

Staging Icons offers a captivating journey through Beaton’s extraordinary career as a photographer to the stars. Featuring era-defining portraits such as those of Audrey Hepburn, Marylin Monroe, Fred Astaire, Queen Elizabeth II and others, the show explores how Beaton’s theatrical approach to staging and design fashioned the identities of his all-star clientele.

Beaton’s first love was the stage, and this was reflected in his groundbreaking photographic style. Using elaborate sets, props, costume and lighting, he blurred the line between reality and artifice, turning photography into visual theatre.

Staging Icons showcases more than 60 unforgettable works from the National Portrait Gallery’s extensive collection of Beaton photographs, some on display for the first time, while also revealing Harewood’s own connection to Beaton and his world.
