Our Story
West Yorkshire Analytical Services provides a high quality analytical, advisory and consultancy service to both public and private sectors. The organisation has a wide range of experience in diverse areas including food and drink, environmental monitoring, asbestos testing and toxicology. A high quality service is provided and the laboratory holds UKAS accreditation in a number of areas of work. It is housed in purpose-built laboratories at the Headquarters of West Yorkshire Joint Services, officially opened by Suzi Leather, then the Deputy Chair of the Food Standards Agency on the 1st May 2001. Individual laboratories are fitted to a high standard and include two dedicated sample preparation rooms, cold stores, general laboratories, a toxicology laboratory and specialist instrument laboratories for spectroscopy, gas chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, proximate analysis and bio-chemical techniques. Work is undertaken for a large number of private clients ranging from one-off analysis to large on-going quality assurance programmes. Analytical results are only part of the service provided, which can include advice on sampling protocols, interpretation of results in a legal context, impartial advice and an expert witness service.
