🎉What an incredible The Great Knaresborough Bed Race 2026!

A huge thank you to everyone who made this year’s event such a success — the volunteers, teams, organisations, businesses, sponsors and all who came along and created such a brilliant atmosphere.

With the 60th anniversary celebrations, 90 teams taking part, and thousands of visitors in the town, it truly felt like one of the busiest and most memorable Bed Races yet.

Knaresborough’s community spirit was amazing to see 💛

Special thanks to Charlotte Gale Photography for the beautiful photos 📸

Here’s to Bed Race 2027! ✨

THE KNARESBOROUGH ELEVEN RETURNS!
Another chance to see the original play inspired by the real events of the Knaresborough Castle Riot in 1886. The Knaresborough Eleven tells the story of a community standing together in the face of injustice.

Devised through community workshops, the play draws on local research conducted by Howard Johnson, a descendent of one of the Rioters, Jackie Glew, who wrote The Extraordinary Tale of the Castle Yard Riot, and is proudly supported by the Knaresborough Museum, Rabbit Head Productions Ltd and Knaresborough Town Council.

As we celebrate Volunteer Week, we want to shine a huge spotlight on every person who gives their time to help make our town such a special place.

We are so grateful to all the incredible volunteers across our town who make things happen every single day. You’re the reason Knaresborough is such a brilliant place to live, work, and enjoy - a community full of heart, energy, and generosity.

A big thank you as well to our Town Councillors - while you are elected members, you give your time, dedication, and commitment to serve our community; working to support, protect and improve our town.

And of course, an extra‑special shout‑out to The Mayor of Knaresborough’s volunteer Town Guides - your passion for sharing our history, stories, and hidden gems brings Knaresborough to life for residents and visitors alike.

Thank you to every single one of you đź’›

Help us to plan improvements to King George V playing field in Knaresborough.

The playing field has received funding from nearby housing developments to support improvements and upgrades. We're working with Knaresborough Town Council to develop a plan to improve this much-loved local green space for the community.

The opinions of residents and the playing field users will help us to understand what improvements are needed and will be used to inform the final proposals.

Have your say at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/your-council/consultations-and-engagement/current-consultations/improvements-king-george-v-playing-field-knaresborough by Sunday 14 June.
