As part of Carers Week 2026, carers from across Kingston came together in Surbiton earlier this week for an event marking this year's theme: Building Carer Friendly Communities.

Hosted by Kingston Carers' Network and Carers UK, the afternoon was a chance to connect, share experiences and take some well-deserved time out. Sir Ed Davey MP and Alison Bennett MP also joined.

A highlight: younger attendees got to read Young Carers in Space by Ana Graça — a picture book based on stories from young carers in Kingston, recently read on CBeebies Bedtime Stories.
If you're looking after someone, you don't have to do it alone. Kingston Carers' Network (KCN) offers free advice, benefits support, counselling and wellbeing activities, plus a Young Carers Project. Connected Kingston can also help you find local groups and support.

🎉 We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Kingston Council won Silver🥈 in the prestigious Community Involvement award at last night's LGC Awards! 🎉

The national award recognised our co-produced Kingston’s Ending VAWG Strategy and the way it was built in equal partnership with survivors from Voices of Hope’s Kingston Women's Hub. True change only happens when we put lived experience at the very heart of our services.

Thank you to the incredible survivors, community safety team, and partners who made this possible. Together, we are making Kingston safer.
