I may not agree with Peter North politically, but it took real courage to call out his own party and walk away when it stopped serving the community. That speaks to his character.

Peter has been clear he is still proud to serve Bricknell — but he no longer believes Labour can deliver. He will now sit as an independent, and he is the second Labour councillor this year to resign. Labour is falling apart.

The Lib Dems are no better. Three elections, three different candidates, one now off chasing a safe seat.

Only the Conservatives stick to our guns. We do not walk away from the party we stood for. We fight for our communities, and we will deliver the real change our city needs.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support over the past couple of months since being selected as your Bricknell ward candidate for 2026. It’s been an amazing journey so far (even if getting to grips with Facebook has been a bit of a challenge!).

I’m especially grateful to my colleague just over in Cottingham, Aaron Larkin, for helping me get and the Hull East, North & Cottingham Conservative Association Hull University Conservative Association teams for all the time and encouragement they've given me

A big thank you as well to Graham Stuart MP and the East Riding Conservative team for their guidance and support. Speaking to residents on the doorstep across Bricknell, I’ve heard your concerns loud and clear — from congestion and anti-social behaviour to the feeling that the old Guildhall parties just aren’t listening.

I’m determined to change that and to keep standing up for Bricknell. Thank you again to everyone who’s been part of this journey so far!
