ONTHANK RESIDENTS MEETING
Myself and colleague Councillor Caroline Barton will be at today's meeting of the Onthank residents consultation forum giving an update on the following.

We'd love to see you there. If you cant make it in person then please email us: [email protected] and [email protected].

New Litter Picking Station - A new community litter picking station has been installed outside the Nwkleus Centre on Kirkton Road.

New School Road Crossings - Two new road crossings were installed over the Summer holiday break on Mieklewood Road outside Onthank and Mount Carmel primary schools.

Two New Modular Classrooms at Onthank Primary - Two new classrooms were installed to the rear of Onthank School over the Summer holiday break to expand the space for Additional Supported Learning.

Investment in Cleaner Communities - At the Full Council meeting last week an increased focus on Cleaner Communities was agreed with:

*19 new jobs within Cleaner Communities.
*Appointment slots at Western Road Waste Recycle Centre to be reduced from 20 minutes to 10 minutes, providing over 32,800 additional bookings each year.
*Replacement of 500 bins that are no longer fit for use, and 200 new street bins. Please note that this is a reversal of the previous suggestion that 500 bins were to be removed.
*6 new vehicles will be purchased to ensure that bulky uplifts can be collected within five working days and fly-tipping removal timescales can be reduced from the current 28 days. Depute Chief Executive (Communities and Economy) will also engage with employees and Trade Unions with the aim of introducing a seven-day service.
*New sensor bins will be tested in Stewarton, and new compacting bins will be tested in King Street Kilmarnock.

Deployable CCTV Cameras - A further ten re-deployable CCTV cameras are scheduled for installation at additional fly-tipping hotspot locations throughout East Ayrshire. Two locations within our Ward 2 have been selected for the new cameras with appropriate signage on Ardgour Place and Morven Avenue.

Youth Disorder and Anti-social Behaviour - Open green spaces at Thorn Terrace and Southcraigs have been attracting some youth disorder and anti-social behaviour. This has been escalated to the Police and Community Safety team.

Consultation on the Town Centre Vision and Masterplan 2040 - A vision for the Kilmarnock Masterplan over the next 14 years has been launched and the Council is calling on everyone to take a look and have their say. The consultation opened online on Monday 31 August and will run until Sunday 11 October with some public face-to-face engagement sessions being held at venues across Kilmarnock to give people a chance to ask questions and contribute in-person. The masterplan lays out priorities for both short-term and long-term projects which should transform the town and enhance life, work, and leisure for all who use Kilmarnock. The Council has earmarked approximately £100m for this work, and We Make Kilmarnock has £20 million over the next 10 years. Levering in private investment and other investment will also be vital to the success of the plan. (Full details on the council's web pages and social media channels).

Place Based Investment Fund - Over the last 5 years more than £5 million from the Scottish Government has been invested in more than 100 community groups across East Ayrshire. An event was recently held at Take A Bow in New Farm Loch to recognise these groups and to celebrate their achievements. Groups who benefited from our ward area were the Knockinlaw Community Garden Out Community Initiative SCIO , CrossReach Morven Centre, and the Onthank Nwkleus Centre.
