📢 In this week’s Leader’s Update, we look back at an important milestone for education in Redbridge — the opening of the new Hatton Special School site in Ilford.

Kam Rai Leader of Redbridge Council visited the transformed building ahead of pupils starting this week, seeing first‑hand how the new specialist facilities will support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. It’s a major investment in creating the right environment for every child to learn, grow and thrive.

Our Neighbourhood Enforcement Team have been working closely with local communities to tackle environmental crime, including recently proactively engaging with a neighbourhood in Newbury Park. The team spent the day chatting to locals and updating them about enforcement activities taking place in the area, giving advice on how to get rid of rubbish responsibly, and gathering intelligence from the community about local grime crime incidents or concerns.

Everyone has a role in helping keep Redbridge tidy, which is why the Council needs your help as we can’t do it alone. If you spot a fly-tip or have information about someone fly-tipping in your local area you need to report it. You can do this easily, in just minutes, through our Report It page: https://orlo.uk/LSMsr

By working together we can help ensure our borough stays looking great.

Our Street Cleansing Team have been sweeping and weeding to spruce up Westrow Gardens in Seven Kings. It takes a community to keep a borough tidy, so please give our teams a helping hand by putting your gum & litter in street bins, and not the floor. Spotted a street scene issue in your area? More info in the comments on how to easily report it to us.👇

Cllr Sunny Brar, Cabinet Member for Enforcement, Community Safety and Cohesion, recently visited Frenford Clubs to see how Redbridge’s Community Cohesion & Resilience Programme is strengthening local facilities and bringing people together.

Redbridge Council is investing funding to improve spaces, support local groups and boost long‑term community engagement. At Frenford, £126,000 has delivered major upgrades including full refurbishment works, new sports hall flooring, improved meeting spaces and the construction of a new community café that will become a welcoming hub for residents.

During the visit, Cllr Brar saw the completed works first‑hand and met Irfan Shah, who is helping deliver the programme.

Frenford Clubs has committed to a strong package of community benefits, including open days, workshops, stakeholder meetings and ongoing support for cohesion initiatives.
