We’re consulting on proposed changes to how bus franchising would be introduced across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough 🚍

The consultation follows an independent review of the Combined Authority’s plans, which recommended introducing franchising in stages.

🗓️ The consultation is running for 6 weeks and closes at 5pm Tuesday 27 October.

Six weeks ago, Alexej had never built anything in a metaverse. Today, he is designing immersive 3D training environments for local tech firm Capytech UK.

Through the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority’s Forging Futures programme, Alexej bypassed the traditional barriers of rigid interviews and perfectly polished CVs. Instead, he was given an opportunity to learn by doing.

Working directly with Capytech’s founder and an international production team, Alexej is driving real, impactful work from day one, including:

▪️ 3D and metaverse world-building

▪️ AI tools for video, image, and animation production

▪️ E-learning content design and development

▪️ Architecting the bespoke onboarding portal that future interns will use

"I didn't expect to be building in a 3D environment in my first week," Alexej says. "It's been a proper crash course, and knowing that the training portal I'm helping design will actually be used by the next intern makes it feel like real work, not just a placement task."

It's Cambridge Tech Week 🌟

Mayor opened Cambridge Wireless Cambridge Tech Week this morning, stating the importance of supporting advanced technology and sciences for the future of our region.

This five-day global tech collaboration brings together some of the world's brightest minds — this time with a focus on deep tech's role in a changing world. The event reflects why Cambridge is one of the world's leading centres of innovation.

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority is a proud sponsor, and we're there in our role connecting local businesses with government, universities, investors, and our local authorities.

The Mayor's ambition in our Local Growth Plan is to triple the size of our economy by 2050, building on our innovation clusters and world-leading R&D, and creating better opportunity and investment right across our region. With further devolution powers announced by Government this summer, the Combined Authority will be working to use new tools and levers to back that ambition even further.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Paul Bristow said: "Collaboration is what makes the industries of the future, the concepts of the future, happen."
