💜 Month of the Military Child - Celebrating Our Young Heroes 💜

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognise and celebrate the incredible resilience, adaptability and strength of children growing up in Armed Forces families. These young people often experience frequent moves, school changes and time apart from loved ones, yet continue to thrive with courage and positivity.

As part of the celebrations at RAF Wyton, we were delighted to welcome 42 Eng Regt to RAFAKidz Wyton Nursery for a very special visit. The children very much enjoyed meeting serving personnel, learning a little about their roles and seeing the friendly faces behind the uniform. It was a great opportunity to build understanding and connection and to show our youngest military families how valued and supported they are.

A huge thank you to 42 Engineer Regiment - Geographic and the fantastic team at RAFAKidz Wyton.

Thinking of those on watch this Christmas...

While many are preparing the final bits and pieces for tomorrow and looking forward to sitting down for Christmas dinner, some of our team at RAF Wyton are still hard at work, ensuring our intelligence and support missions continue without pause.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our personnel, whether serving here in the UK or deployed overseas. To those away from their loved ones this year: we thank you for your service.

RAF Wyton coming together for our local community!

We are incredibly proud of our whole force personnel who have spent the last month collecting food donations to support those in need.

Yesterday, we were thrilled to announce that these donations are heading to Foodbanks in Godmanchester, St Ives and Ramsey.

A huge thank you to DIO for running with the initiative and a huge thank you to everyone on Station who contributed.

On Tuesday 9 December 2025, RAF Wyton proudly welcomed around 40 veterans from the local community for a heartwarming OpChristmas Afternoon Tea.

The event, organised by the station’s People & Families Support team, brought together former service personnel for an afternoon of festive spirit and camaraderie.

Among the guests were members of the RAF Benevolent Fund Dementia Reminiscence Group, who enjoyed traditional Christmas carols and seasonal music performed by the talented RAF Wyton Area Voluntary Band.

Adding to the joy, children from Wyton’s RAFAKidz Nursery presented each veteran with a small memento of the occasion—a gesture that perfectly captured the spirit of giving and intergenerational connection.

This special gathering was made possible thanks to the generous support of the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Royal Air Forces Association, Huntingdon And District Branch. Their contributions ensured that the event was not only memorable but also meaningful.

RAF Wyton shares a unique and enduring bond with its veterans, and events like this highlight the importance of tackling isolation—especially during the festive season. For many, Christmas can be a challenging time, and creating opportunities for veterans to reconnect with the RAF family is vital in promoting wellbeing and community spirit.

Once again the town square was packed with those who had joined together to reflect and pay their respects at this year's Huntingdon Remembrance Parade.

The Parade was led as usual by RAF Wyton Area Voluntary Band with this being Bandmaster Graham Sheldons final Remembrance ahead of his retirement at the end of the year.

As well as an RAF contingent from Wyton many groups and clubs also joined the parade to fill the square and lay wreaths.

Personnel from RAF Wyton have enjoyed meeting members of the local community this week whilst raising money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. You may have seen them out and about in local supermarkets as well as Huntingdon Station and Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

The Poppy has been the symbol of Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future since the aftermath of World War One.
Since 1921 the Royal British Legion collectors have been at the heart of the Poppy Appeal raising money to enable the Legion to continue its vital work.
