🇬🇧 Today I was officially elected as a one of the six Cabinet Member’s of Barnsley Council, as well as Group Press Officer and I’m proud to be part of the team that will deliver real change for Barnsley.

Just one year ago, I made the decision to stand as a Councillor to represent the people of Hoyland Milton. I was out campaigning right up until the birth of my little boy, determined to do everything I could to give local people a stronger voice.

None of us could have imagined just how historic that election would become. After 52 years of Labour control, Barnsley voted for change and today marks the beginning of that new chapter.

It’s a huge honour to serve our borough in this role, and as a Local Councillor. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way.
Now the hard work begins.

Elsecar Heritage Centre means so much to our community. It’s our history, our identity, and a place for residents and visitors alike to enjoy - which is why it’s so important that local voices and tenants are heard as plans for the future move forward.

A number of tenants at Elsecar Heritage Centre have raised concerns regarding the current situation at the site.

We will shortly be meeting with tenants to listen to those concerns and discuss the issues that have been raised. The invitation is open to all tenants past and present.

Following this, we will continue discussions with Barnsley Museums and work to ensure that any future investment plans for Elsecar Heritage Centre work for both tenants and the wider local community.

🇬🇧 Thank you, Hoyland Milton.

What a week it’s been. I’m immensely proud to have been elected as your Councillor for Hoyland Milton and would like to thank the 1,629 people who came out to vote for me, and more importantly, put their trust in me.

This wasn’t just any local election, this was a truly significant moment for Barnsley. Across our borough, people voted for change, for stronger representation, and for councillors who will work hard, listen, and deliver for their communities.

To everyone who supported me, volunteered, spoke to neighbours, shared posts, or simply stopped for a conversation on the doorstep: thank you. Campaigns are never won alone, and I’m incredibly grateful to every person who played a part.

Congratulations also to my colleagues Michael and Brian. I’m proud to work alongside them and look forward to what we can achieve together for local residents.

But now the real work begins. I stood because I care deeply about Hoyland Milton and the people who call it home. I’ll work tirelessly to ensure our community has a strong voice at Barnsley Council and that local concerns are properly heard and acted upon.

Whether you voted for me or not, I will represent everyone in Hoyland Milton fairly and with integrity. My door will always be open, and I look forward to working alongside residents to make our area an even better place to live.

Finally, to my wonderful Dad, Roger, who sadly passed away in December, I’m doing this for you. I hope to make you, and our community, proud.
