Did you know that the first time clocks went back in autumn 1916, people were advised to put clocks forward by 11 hours rather than turning hands back an hour, as this could have broken the mechanism!

Birth registrations are moving to an electronic system, which means paper registers will no longer need to be signed.

✔️ Appointments will remain face-to-face
✔️ You will need to provide documentary evidence of your identity

**Carers Rights Day event at Hounslow House**

Hounslow Council will be hosting an event to mark Carers Rights Day at Hounslow House (Ground Floor, TW3 3EB) on Saturday 21 November 2026, from 10.30am to 3pm.

The theme of Carers Rights Day 2026 is the early identification of unpaid carers, encouraging individuals to recognise that they’re entitled to legal rights, benefits and support from Hounslow Carers Service.

Join us and Council teams including Hounslow Carers Service and Community Provisions, plus external guests EHCVS, Shaw Trust and Speak Out Hounslow amongst many others!

Applications are now open for the latest round of the Community Energy Fund.

Local community organisations, charities, faith groups and community venues can apply for grants of up to £40,000 to deliver projects that benefit both the environment and residents.

With £150,000 available, the fund supports projects such as:
✅ Solar panels
✅ Air source heat pumps
✅ LED lighting upgrades
✅ Insulation improvements
✅ Energy-efficient building enhancements

Previous recipients include:
• Arts Centre Hounslow - £25,000 for energy-efficient LED lighting
• Friends of Northcote Nature Reserve - £40,000 for insulation and efficient glazing
• Age Concern Chiswick - £11,000 for solar panels

The fund is helping organisations lower energy costs, improve community spaces and invest more resources into the services they provide.

Access advice on everyday safeguarding, whether that’s your finances or personal relationships.

Among our special guests are Barclays Bank (frauds and scams), Crosslight (personal debt) and Shewise (relationships).

Visitors can learn more about making better choices, reporting concerns and adopting a collective responsibility around local adult safeguarding in line with this year’s Safeguarding Adults Week theme: Every Voice. Every Choice.

**Swati shares the care**

Alongside caring for her two children - including a non-verbal autistic child - and working full-time, Swati dedicates an extraordinary amount of time and energy to supporting other families in Hounslow.

She’s a nominee in our Carers Awards, at Hounslow House on 20 November.

Through Autism Hounslow, she organises creative, sensory-aware events that bring autistic children and their families together in safe and inclusive spaces, helping to build a strong sense of community.

She also advocates for families, provides practical guidance on accessing support and services, working tirelessly to ensure autistic voices are heard and no family feels isolated.
