We promised in June that we would get a grip on HMOs across Wearside and the citywide review is now underway.

It will examine:

• Where HMOs are and how many are operating
• Housing and safety standards
• Poor management and neighbourhood impacts
• Residents’ concerns
• Whether stronger enforcement or new licensing measures are needed

We’ll listen to residents, tenants, landlords and enforcement partners then bring the evidence back to Cabinet for action.

Cllr Quigley was out at the Coalfield Summer Fayre meeting local residents, listening to their concerns, and discussing the issues that matter most to the community.

Great afternoon meeting the new manager, Kelly at Dairy Lane Care Centre.Thanks again for having me.

We were delighted to welcome Councillor Johnathan Emerson to Dairy Lane Care Centre this week.

It was a pleasure to show him around our home and share the exciting changes and future plans we have for our residents and the local community.

We are especially proud to be involved in a new dementia framework pilot for the area, helping to shape and improve dementia care for the future.

Councillor Emerson commented on the warm, friendly atmosphere within the home and praised our person-centred approach to care, recognising the dedication of our amazing team.

There are lots of exciting projects ahead at Dairy Lane Care Centre, and we can’t wait to share our journey with you all.
