Love Support Unite UK LSU helps communities in Malawi become self-sufficient through sustainable development. Working alongside Africa Vision and Malawi Projects.

Love Support Unite (LSU) empowers people to become self-sufficient, with a leg-up rather than a hand-out. Community-based projects that integrate education, enterprise, nutrition, and health, lift communities out of the cycle of poverty into a cycle of sustainability. LSU is a fundraising organization that raises money for sustainable development delivered through partners Africa Vision in Malawi.

Supporting medical outreach, adult literacy, sustainable farming, early childhood development and vulnerable people. Our operational costs for these projects are funded largely through The Malawi Projects. LSU also helps provide funding for Mphatso Children's charity to provide the formula for babies in desperate need of help. It provides emergency relief when required for emergencies such COVID 19, and Cholera outbreak. LSU raises valuable funds though, Love Specs its company selling recycled plastic and paper sunglasses turning lights into rainbow hearts with the message 'change your perception, change the world'

After an epic cycle with 5 amazing humans, here’s Heather talking about the amazing work our partners have been up to over the last months. 

This cycle raised over £13,000 for our projects run by our dedicated partners like on the ground in Malawi. 

We are so beyond grateful to know and work with such an incredible woman who has worked tirelessly for years to support communities in Malawi.

Sharing an amazing initiative set up by our partners - which supports young people who aren’t in education or employment and trains them as mentors and peer educators. They then go back into their communities and use that influence to inspire positive change in the young people around them.

Creating a full 360 cycle, where communities support each other, grow, learn and build something stronger - together.

Child-headed households. Blind mothers raising kids alone. Grandparents doing it all at 67. 💛

These are the families we support every month with food packs - maize, beans, cooking oil, soap, the basics that make a real difference.

14 families received their packs in February. It's not flashy. It's not complicated. It's just food, showing up when it's needed most.

This is what love looks like in practice. And it's funded entirely by people like you.

Providing mothers with care and support is what this project is all about - and to achieve that, we believe that the fathers need to be involved too. So last month, we ran nutrition sessions together - talking macronutrients, micronutrients, and how to grow food that actually nourishes - for the entire family.

Because healthy pregnancies aren't just about mums. They're about families.

Knowledge that'll feed families for years, not just one generation.

In Malawi, around 11.6% of the population live with a disability. The majority have little or no access to rehabilitation services meaning no physio, no occupational therapy and generally no support.

Butttt…our SEND Unit at M'bang'ombe Health Centre is changing that.

This March: 3 new children assessed, 37 babies screened at birth.

It means that we can support babies and their parents from the start - which can drastically improve their quality of life.

Last month alone we were told by our ground team that a child can now sit up on their own, one is crawling and another who can stand independently.

To you that might sound small. To these families, it's everything. ❤️

In Malawi, nearly half of all children under 5 are stunted due to malnutrition. Not because families don't care - but because the food and support simply isn't there.

Every month our mobile clinics growth-monitor hundreds of children and refer the ones falling behind for nutritional support. This March that was 1,372 kids checked, and 14 referred before things got worse.

We can't fix everything. But we can make sure these kids have a fighting chance.

Meet Msaiwale. 🧡

He came to our disability outreach clinic at Chimbalu Health Centre with a condition called Thoracic Disc Bulge - and until recently, a simple stick was all he had to help him get around.

Our rehab technician took his measurements and had a pair of crutches made locally at Malawi Trading Centre fitted just for him. He was so happy to receive them!

The 6 cyclists are helping fundraise for disability and other programs supported by Gold Youth and Unite Support!
