Holmfirth is looking wonderful this week - as usual. & why dash back down the M1 (especially as it was closed) when you can wander back to the Midlands via Holm Moss and then Glossop and Ashbourne, so beautiful in the late autumn sun. Holmfirth Events Holmfirth Market

I cannot claim this shot...the iPhone is good but not this good. This is the Victoria Tower, Castle Hill up above Huddersfield but surrounded by mist and looking like a lonely island. The landmark can be seen from Holmfirth and is a good starting place for a number of stunning walks. Its been misty around Stumble Cottage Holmfirth, West Yorkshire lately as autumn moves in but great walking weather Discover Walks Everywhere. We're also hoping to see the poppies at Yorkshire Sculpture Park soon, definitely worth a visit especially if you plan to get to Stumble Cottage via Junction 38, M1 (see earlier post)

The Bridge Holmbridge A nice 5 minute walk up Woodhead Road and you're at this lovely pub/restaurant with its own brewery.
We had a really good Sunday lunch but I notice they do breakfasts at the weekend which sounds a good way to start a holiday day!

The brewery at The Bridge (Holmbridge) is a newly added feature of the pub, feature ales - Bridge Blonde, English Pale Ale, American Pale, Vanilla Stout, New Zealand Pale Ale

A slow walk from here to Digley Reservoir is about 30 mins

Bike rack in the car park opposite. I think a stop off here is best on the way back down from Holme Moss rather than the way up.

Holmbridge Cricket Club, Nr Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. Formed in 1868, we have 2 adult teams playing in the Huddersfield Cricket League. And 5 junior teams (U9, U11, U13, U15, U17) playing in the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League. Always welcome.
