Helping Herts Homeless

Helping Herts Homeless Providing targeted support to improve the lives of homeless people Helping Herts Homeless is a registered charity.

We are run entirely by volunteers, focused on addressing the problems of homelessness in Hertfordshire. In addition to providing temporary accommodation for those who are homeless, we also act as a hub in supporting other charities and organisations who are directly involved in alleviating homelessness across the county. Our aim, for every client, is that they are assisted and supported towards the means to move onto a secure, settled and fulfilling life.

Supporting and celebrating Helping Herts Homeless 🏡

Last week it was a real pleasure to visit the Sanctuary on Grove Road to speak to the fantastic staff and volunteers behind Helping Herts Homeless.

This great local organisation has been supporting the homeless locally for decades, ensuring so many have had somewhere to turn when in dire need.

It’s local volunteers who have made it all possible though, so while I was there it was great to thank and celebrate the dedication of Peter their Treasurer who recently stepped down after 25 years (!) as a trustee. It’s clear Peter’s commitment has been so important to getting them to where they are today 👏

What a fun night we had at the Christchurch Hitchin Barn Dance on Saturday! Thank you so much to Paul Arnold and Pippa for arranging the event, all the talented musicians, volunteers from Christchurch and our own fundraising team, as well as all the supporters who bought tickets. The total raised was over £800, all of which will help local homeless people. 🙏

INSPIRATIONAL!!

Millie Maund from Henlow, took time out from her 10th birthday celebrations to visit The Sanctuary to donate goody bags & new outdoor coats & jackets in support of homelessness in our area. The goody bags contained, a mix of thermal hats, gloves, socks, hand warmers, toiletries & nutritional biscuits.

Whilst out & about with her Mum, Millie, has seen the plight of homeless people in our area & decided to raised money to try to provide a few comforts/essentials for those less fortunate. To raise the cash, & with the help of Mum, Millie organised a social media campaign via Tik Toc & Go Fund Me to raise ÂŁ100. The clothing was kindly donated by a family member who owns a shop in the North of the country.

It was a pleasure for Peter Warren, President, Bob Robinson Co. Secretary & Ken Iloani Support Worker, to welcome Millie & Mum, Jess, to The Sanctuary to explain the work done by both Helping Herts Homeless & OneYMCA in supporting the homeless people in our area and how Millie’s donations will help make THE difference to people's lives.

Many Thanks Millie & we hope you had a fabulous Birthday Weekend of celebrations.
