Bikers Beware 🏍️ 👀
Take a look at the below warning from PCSO Mike from North West Leicestershire Police regarding bike theft. With regular bike meets at Stoney Cove and Triumph on the Hinckley and Blaby NPA, riders are encouraged to stay vigilant.
Please stay aware of who is around your bike, check it regularly and ask a trusted friend to keep an eye out if leaving it unattended.
Report any suspicious behaviour or incidents to Leicestershire Police.

🏍️ 🚨 Bikers Beware 🚨🏍️

It's come to our attention that thieves are attending bike events, such as bike nights, and placing tracking devices on unattended motorbikes.

These devices allow offenders to locate where bikes are kept and later steal them.

Please stay alert and aware of who is around your bike.

Regularly check your bike for anything unusual or out of place.

There is software you can get which alerts you when you are near a tracker.

If you attend a bike night, try to park where you can clearly see your bike at all times.

Most importantly, remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour around your bike or others.

Together, we can help prevent motorbike theft in our community.

Cold water shock can affect anyone - even strong swimmers, even on hot days.
• Warm weather doesn't mean warm water - open water stays dangerously cold.
• Cold water shock causes an involuntary gasp and loss of breathing control within seconds - even for strong swimmers.
• Even confident swimmers can quickly lose strength, control, and coordination. Panic makes it worse.
It doesn't take long for things to go wrong in open water - even for strong swimmers.

OUTDOOR WATER SAFETY 🚣
In the last 5 years, 90% of accidental drownings occurred at open water sites, either inland or on the coast.
Many of these drownings occur due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of open water safety.
Risks to consider in open water include:
💦The shock of cold water can make swimming difficult and increase the difficulty in getting out of the water.
💦Lack of safety equipment and increased difficulty for rescue.
💦The height of the fall or jump if tomb-stoning.
💦The depth of the water - this changes and is unpredictable.
💦Underwater objects and hazards may not be visible.
💦Obstacles or other people in the water.
💦Strong currents can rapidly sweep people away.
💦Uneven banks and river beds.
💦Water quality eg. toxic algal blooms and industrial/agricultural pollution.
❗DON'T BECOME A STATISTIC - KEEP AWAY FROM OPEN WATER ❗ See less
