๐Ÿ’› It's Shared Lives Week next week โ€“ and we'd love to introduce you to something special. ๐Ÿ’›

This is what Shared Lives looks like. Smiles. Friendships. New experiences. Everyday moments.

Moray Shared Lives is built around those moments. We match adults who need support with approved self-employed carers who share their home and community life, helping people build confidence, independence and meaningful connections.

Throughout next week, we'll be celebrating the incredible Shared Lives carers here in Moray and the people they support, showing how the best support often comes through belonging, connection and shared experiences.

If you've never heard of Shared Lives before, you're in the right place. Follow along and discover how ordinary people can help others live fuller, more connected lives.

โญ๏ธ This , we're shining a light on Moray's amazing young carers โญ๏ธ

Earlier this year, young people across our communities shared their experiences with us. Their message was clear: they want to be recognised, listened to and supported.

Many told us they don't think of themselves as a "young carer" โ€“ they're simply helping a parent, brother, sister or another family member because that's what they do. Some worried about being treated differently or didn't know support was available.

They also told us they value having someone they can trust, opportunities to spend time with friends, and the chance to take a break and just be young.

Their voices are helping shape how we improve support for young carers across Moray, because no young person should feel they have to face caring responsibilities alone.

If you know a young person who helps look after someone at home, recognising their role and asking how they're doing could make all the difference. ๐Ÿ’™

The World Cup kicked off last night, and the Tartan Army are getting ready to roar on Scotland in their opening game this weekend! ๐Ÿฅณ

Football fever has well and truly arrived at our Buckie day service, where staff and supported people have embraced the excitement with plenty of team spirit.

The centre has been decked out with Saltire bunting and flags, they've created their very own World Cup trophies, and the names of the Scotland squad now proudly fill the windows.

One thing's for sureโ€ฆ yes sir, we can boogie! โ€˜Mon Scotland โ€“ gie it laldy! ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

It was fantastic to see so many carers sharing their experiences, ideas and insights at this first engagement event we hosted along with Quarriers Carer Support Service - Moray. Thank you to everyone who contributed โ€“ your voice is helping shape the future of support in Moray.

Last night saw the first of several engagement events run by Health and Social Care Moray and Quarriers Carer Support Service (Moray).

We had a full turnout and the positivity and energy in the room during discussions was brilliant. Lots of talking, lots of sharing, lots of ideas.

"I think that has been a very productive evening."

Thank you to all who took time our and shared their views.
Your voice really does matter.

It's never too early to plan for the future.

If illness or an accident meant you could no longer make decisions for yourself, who would you want to speak on your behalf?

A Power of Attorney (PoA) is a legal document that lets you choose someone you trust to make decisions about your welfare and finances if you're unable to. Without one, even close family members don't automatically have the legal authority to do this.

Having a PoA in place can make an incredibly difficult time a little easier, helping ensure the person's wishes are known and respected while reducing uncertainty and stress.

Planning ahead isn't always an easy conversation, but it's an important one.

Find out more about setting up a Power of Attorney at mygov.scot or powerofattorneyday.org.uk.

๐Ÿฐ Who needs TV's GBBO when you have The Oaks and these mouth-watering creations? ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

To round off the celebrations for , staff at The Oaks swapped their usual roles for aprons, mixers and cake tins, putting their baking skills to the test in a friendly bake off for our wonderful volunteers.

We didn't need Paul or Prue as the volunteers had the very important job of judging a fantastic selection of homemade bakes. And with such an incredible standard, there were plenty of delicious decisions to make.

The competition created a real buzz and was a lovely way to celebrate the people who give their time so generously.

๐Ÿ† Congratulations to Kirsty, our physio, whose sticky toffee carrot cake earned her the title of Star Baker!
๐Ÿ‘ And well done to Kyla, whose rhubarb crumble cake was a very deserving runner-up.

A huge thank you to everyone who baked, judged and helped make the afternoon such a success. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฐ

Looking after someone you care about? Whether itโ€™s a few hours a week or every day, your role matters โ€“ and so do you.

๐Ÿ’ฌ What have unpaid carers in Moray told us?

Earlier this year, adult carers, young carers and practitioners shared their experiences through our surveys. One message came through loud and clear:

๐Ÿ’™ Recognition matters ๐Ÿ’™

Many unpaid carers told us they don't always feel seen, valued or included in decisions, even though they know the person they care for better than anyone.

The good news? Small actions can make a big difference. Taking time to ask, listen and acknowledge someone's caring role helps carers feel understood and supported.

As we mark , we're using what carers have told us to strengthen support across Moray and build more carer friendly communities, where unpaid carers are recognised as equal partners in care.

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and helped shape the future of support for unpaid carers in Moray. ๐Ÿ’™

Quarriers Carer Support Service - Moray supports unpaid carers with information, advice and ways to take care of their own wellbeing.
