Huge congratulations to Cllr Lee Evans. Already working incredibly hard for local residents as a county councillor and now Conservative District Councillor on the Vale of White Horse.

Big thanks to everyone who backed Lee! 🙏💙

Everyone was so keen to get out to talk to residents in Nettlebed this afternoon that we missed out on the starting photo…but we didn’t miss out on the get-together afterwards which was great fun!

And really interesting to hear of the conversations that took place on the doorsteps where residents were happy to share their thoughts on what issues were important to them and no surprise to any of us that the number one issue CONTINUES to be the state of the road and the potholes as well as the dire response of this LibDem county council to addressing the issue (something which the Conservative councillors looked to address with their shadow budget but which LibDems, Labour & Greens voted against 😡).

On Tuesday we will have the County Council budget meeting. Residents tell me one thing more than anything else: fix the roads. Potholes damage cars, undermine safety, and frustrate people year after year especially after winter exposes long-standing maintenance backlogs.

That’s why the Oxfordshire Alliance group, made up of Conservative and Independent councillors, will be putting forward a budget amendment that puts money where it matters most: frontline priorities.

🚧 £1.3 million extra every year for pothole repairs and preventative maintenance so problems are tackled earlier and winter backlogs are reduced.

🔥 £200,000 boost for Fire Cadets over two years investing in young people, skills, and the future resilience of our fire service so fire stations don’t have to be closed.

🇬🇧 £50,000 one-off fund to allow Parish and Town Councils to apply for support to display flags or banners for occasions like Remembrance, Armed Forces Day, or national events. Pride in our country has its place, and we make no apology for that.

To fund this, we’ve made sensible, proportionate savings: trimming back communications and policy teams, ending free lunches for councillors, and scaling back the carbon action team. These changes do not cut essential frontline services, but they do free up money for what residents actually care about.

What a fabulous evening.

What a fabulous evening.

Delighted to be the guest speaker at the Henley & Thame Patrons Club Summer Party in Goring, Oxfordshire.

Special thanks to my friend and outstanding GE24 candidate Caroline Newton for the kind invitation and Peta and Philip Buscombe for being such gracious hosts.

Delicious canapes and fabulous service from Emily Rait catering Henley on Thames and her lovely team.

It was a wonderful evening - thank you everyone for the warm welcome, my beautiful flowers, surprise gift from Fairmile Vineyard and for looking after me so well. You are very much appreciated.
