🔥We are appealing for witnesses and information following a suspected arson in Welwyn Garden City that happened in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 30 December).

The fire was on a second floor flat in Haymeads. It was reported at 3am.

👮Detective Inspector Michael Macbeth said: “Fortunately no-one was injured but smoke damage from the fire spread into the communal areas of the block. The family has been re-homed.
“We have been working closely with Herts Fire and Rescue to establish the cause of the fire, which started in one of the bedrooms. Anyone with any information about the fire is asked to contact us.
“I’d like to reassure the public that we believe this is an isolated incident.”

‼️Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs could not only ruin Christmas but destroy lives forever
❌ Drinking or drug taking impairs reaction times and the ability to think clearly. As a result, motorists who drive under the influence are more likely to be involved in a serious or fatal collision. Since January 2022, 257 people were killed or seriously injured as a result of alcohol and or drug related road traffic collisions in Hertfordshire.
