🌈 June is Pride Month 🌈

At Nexus Fostering, we believe every child and young person deserves to feel safe, accepted, valued, and celebrated for who they are.

Kim and Nicola are encouraging others to consider fostering and making a difference in a child’s life 💙

We are proud to support and stand alongside the LGBTQ+ community this Pride Month and beyond. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are at the heart of fostering, because every child deserves a home where they can be themselves without fear or judgement.

We also welcome foster carers from all backgrounds, identities, and family structures. What matters most is the ability to provide a safe, stable, and caring home for children and young people 💙

Happy Pride Month from all of us at Nexus Fostering 🌈

🍕 A fantastic day for our children and young people from the Cambridge team! 🍕

Yesterday, our young people enjoyed a brilliant Pizza Making event at Lot 25 Café, Bar & Restaurant where they got hands on creating their very own pizzas from scratch.

Hayley, the Head Chef, showed the children how to prepare toppings by cutting up cheese, vegetables, and meats before teaching them how to stretch the pizza dough, spread the tomato sauce, and add their chosen toppings. Their delicious creations were then cooked in the outdoor pizza oven before everyone found a cool shady spot to sit together and enjoy them 🍕

A huge thank you to Hayley and all the staff at Lot 25 for making the day so enjoyable for both the children and adults. Your kindness, patience, and support helped create such a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved 💙

💙 Foster carers Halima and Adam share the special bond between their foster child and birth child 💙

One of the most rewarding parts of fostering can be seeing the relationships that grow within your home. For Halima and Adam, watching their foster child and birth child build a close and supportive bond has been incredibly meaningful.

A positive reminder of the positive impact fostering can have on the whole family.

Fostering is not only about changing a child’s life, it can also help children develop empathy, understanding, confidence, and lifelong connections 💙

Fostering doesn’t stop and neither do we.

Kelly, one of our amazing foster carers, was recently interviewed on BBC Gloucestershire where she shared her honest experience of fostering and her message to others thinking about it.

After 18 months of fostering, urges anyone who’s ever considered it to take that first step.

“P𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘕𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘴 𝘍𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨.”

Fostering can feel like a big decision, but you don’t have to have all the answers. What matters is starting the journey, and knowing there’s support every step of the way 💛

If fostering has ever crossed your mind, this could be your sign to find out more.

💙 Since 2022, the number of foster carers in England has dropped by around 5,000, while the number of children and young people needing foster homes continues to grow.

This is why this year’s Foster Care Fortnight theme, “This is Fostering,” matters so much.

Behind the statistics are real children waiting for safe, supportive, and stable homes 🏡

Fostering can give young people the care, encouragement, and consistency they need to thrive and there has never been a more important time to raise awareness of the difference foster carers make every single day.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is the time to start the conversation 💭

💡 Did you know?

You can rent your home and still apply to become a foster carer.🏡

There’s a common misconception that you need to own your home—but that’s not the case. You will just need permission from your landlord and to make them aware.

If you’ve been thinking about fostering but weren’t sure if you’re eligible, this could be your sign to find out more.
