Our friends at Forum CIO have organised an engagement session focused on women and girls' safety when travelling on public transport.

The aim is to better understand safety issues experienced when travelling, including when and where they occur, as well as determining the improvements that would make a substantial difference in order to inform work with bus operators and partners.

The session will take place on June 25 at 5pm at the Guildhall in Hull (HU1 2AA)

The launch of the campaign came in the same week as the first sentencing under a new law banning harassment motivated by a person’s s*x.

The Crown Prosecution Service called the hearing earlier this week an ‘important step’ in protecting women and girls, and we could not agree more.

The protection of women and girls from harassment is something we can all play a part in. is about having honest, frank conversations with friends about behaviour in order to change the culture.

It’s not ‘just banter’ – something this new law emphatically underlines.

David Stroud was convicted in a first-of-its-kind s*x-based harassment prosecution in May.

We have spent this saying thank you to our amazing team of volunteers

On the final day, we shine a spotlight on our Police Powers Scrutiny Panel who scrutinise police use of powers - including use of force and stop & search - through group discussions and interpretation of police records, statistics and site visits, and how these impact our communities
