The Burnley Express covered the unveiling of the memorial stone to mark Hapton Valley Pit disaster

A new memorial stone to remember those killed and injured in the Hapton Valley Pit disaster has been unveiled in the village.

A quick reminder that tomorrow is the official unveiling of the memorial stone for the Hapton Valley pit disaster. It will take place at 11:00 am at the peace garden on Hapton’s recreation ground. There will be cake, tea and coffee after the ceremony. All are welcome who wish to attend.

Friday 22nd March has been confirmed for the unveiling of the memorial stone for the Hapton Valley pit disaster. It will take place at 11:00 am at the peace garden on Hapton’s recreation ground. Bob Clark has kindly agreed to do the unveiling. There will be cake, tea and coffee after the ceremony. All are welcome who wish to attend.
