The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) recently launched a consultation on proposals for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Norfolk. All three proposals submitted for Norfolk are now open for consultation until 11 January 2026.
The proposals include:
South Norfolk Council's proposal for a two-council model
Other districts' proposal for a three-council model
Norfolk County Council's proposal for a single unitary authority

Haddiscoe Parish Council have been informed today that the planning application on Wiggs Road to partial infill with non-recyclable materials of a former quarry with the intention to restore the site has been refused by Norfolk County Council.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO13195) affecting the C388 Wiggs Road from its junction with A143 The Street for 75m southwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Haddiscoe to facilitate carriageway repair works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 28th to 29th August 2025, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 10th October 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Alternative route is via: Wiggs Road, Rectory Road, Rectory Lane, A143 Church Hill, A143 The Street.

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 10th October 2025 without further notice.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12901) affecting the B1136 Loddon Road from its junction with C516 Beccles Road to its junction with U76359 Mill Road (“Road A”) and B1136 Loddon Road from its junction with U76403 Crab Apple Lane to its junction with A143 The Street (“Road B”) in the Parish of Haddiscoe to facilitate HRA patching works, the Roads A and B will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 11th to 12th August 2025 only whilst signs indicating closures, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 23rd September 2025 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

NB: Road A and Road B will not be closed at the same time within the anticipated dates period.

Alternative route is via: B1136 Loddon Road, B1136 Yarmouth Road, A146 Beccles Road, A146 Norwich Road, A143 Norwich Road, A143 Yarmouth Road, A143 Beccles Road, A143 Yarmouth Road, A143 Beccles Road, A143 Church Hill (Stockton, Haddiscoe, Hales, Heckingham, Gillingham, Thurlton, Toft Monks, Raveningham).

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.
