🍂 There will be NO kerbside garden waste collections between the 1st December 2025 and the 30th January 2026.

📆 This is a total of 2 months instead of 3 as was the case last year.

🚛 This suspension is timed to take place when demand for the service drops significantly over winter and will allow the crews to support the collection of other materials over the busy Christmas period.

♻ If you wish to dispose of garden waste during this period you can still take it to your local recycling centre or store / compost it at home until collections restart.

✏️ This means the final garden waste collections of the year will take place the weeks commencing the 17th and 24th November on whichever is your *PINK* collection week.

🧐 You can check your collection schedule at www.swansea.gov.uk/recyclingsearch

High Sheriff Calls on West Glamorgan to Step Up for Scouts
The High Sheriff of West Glamorgan, Diana Stroia, has launched a new campaign – The High Sheriff’s Call to Make a Difference – to recruit urgently needed adult volunteers for Scout groups across the county.
Since the pandemic, many Scout groups have struggled to recruit and retain volunteers, meaning fewer children and young people are able to join.
Some groups risk closure if help doesn’t come soon.
Diana Stroia, High Sheriff, said:
"Scouting transforms young lives.
It keeps children active, builds confidence, and teaches vital life skills – but none of this is possible without volunteers.
I’m inviting parents, former Scouts, and anyone who cares about our community to give just a couple of hours a week.
You don’t need experience – just a willingness to make a difference.
You’ll be trained, supported, and you’ll see the impact you make almost immediately."
As part of the campaign, every new volunteer will be recognised with the brand-new High Sheriff’s Welcome to Scouting Badge after just three months of service – a token of appreciation for stepping forward.
The campaign will also celebrate existing Scout volunteers with special events and outreach across West Glamorgan, culminating in a community celebration in summer 2026.
Anyone interested in volunteering can email [email protected] or contact their local Scout group.
