Do you know there is free help out there to support you to stop?

Please share your thoughts about smoking with us, whether you are considering stopping smoking or not, and the barriers to stopping. We also provide information in the survey about the free support that is available.

We know that many people are worried about stopping smoking as they think smoking helps to relieve stress.

But did you know that although smoking may seem to give temporary relief for stress, over time it actually creates mood and emotional imbalance and can cause increased anxiety.

Many people who stop smoking experience mood improvements and feel calmer within weeks (South East Smoke Free Alliance).

We would like to know your thoughts about smoking, whether you are considering stopping smoking or not, and the barriers to stopping.
Did you also know there is free support to stop? You can find out about help to quit by doing our survey.

💙 April is Autism Acceptance Month 💙
If you’re an unpaid parent carer supporting an autistic child in Surrey, please remember—you don’t have to do this alone. Connecting with other parents who understand can make a huge difference.

Local support is available through groups such as Action for Carers Surrey, Family Voice Surrey, and the National Autistic Society Surrey Branch, where parent carers can share experiences, access advice, and find a supportive community.

Whether you’re looking for practical guidance, emotional support, or simply a space to talk with others who understand the journey, these groups are here to help.

Did you know? Siblings of a child with autism are often young carers. Surrey Young Carers (part of Action for Carers) offers support, advice, and fun, friendly groups to help them feel understood and connected. Support is also available within schools, so young carers can get the help they need in their education.

If you have used any groups that you have found useful, we would love to hear from you.

Loneliness and community - what are we hearing and why is this important right now?

One of the new priority populations for the Surrey Health and Wellbeing Strategy in 2026 is those who are lonely and socially isolated.

Our Luminus vision is ‘a society where everyone’s voice is heard, so we all receive the support we need for our wellbeing’ but what does this support look like to the
people of Surrey and what else needs to be done?

Some of our recent work highlights the impact of loneliness and isolation on
people’s wellbeing, the importance of local community support and makes
recommendations based on the voices of local people.
