🎉 Congratulations to Sam and Nicola on 2 fantastic years of fostering with Beams! 🎉

As they move from their first year into their second year of fostering, Sam and Nicola have continued to make an incredible difference to the life of the child in their care. 💙

Their annual review and feedback speak volumes, describing the loving and nurturing environment they provide, alongside an excellent standard of care, empathy, compassion and dedication. Their ability to offer a stable home and supportive family environment is clear, with their own children enriching the fostering experience too. ❤️

The strong, long-term relationships they have built with A and her parents are also a wonderful reflection of the care and commitment they bring to fostering. Sam and Nicola also completed A’s transition to an exceptional standard — something they should both be incredibly proud of.

When asked about their experience with Beams, they shared:

🎉 Congratulations to Lisa and Darren on 2 fantastic years of fostering with Beams! 🎉

Over the past year, Lisa and Darren have continued to make a wonderful difference to the children and young people in their care. From providing a successful short-term, task-centred placement, to offering several respite placements, their dedication, commitment and genuine care have shone through. 💙

Feedback from professionals highlights that children in their care are well cared for, feel safe, and have trust in Lisa and Darren’s care and approach — something they should both be incredibly proud of. ❤️

Lisa and Darren have also embraced everything Beams has to offer, engaging in training, wellbeing activities and professional development. Lisa values the support of the mentoring scheme, while Darren has enthusiastically taken part in a wide range of training and learning opportunities.

When asked about fostering with Beams, they highlighted the importance of knowing that support is always there — through support groups, training, supervision, mentoring, their supervising social worker and our duty service.

Our Skills to Foster training is designed to give prospective foster carers a realistic and informative introduction to fostering. The course explores:

✔️ Understanding the needs of children in care
✔️ Attachment, trauma and child development
✔️ Working with birth families and professionals
✔️ The rewards and challenges of fostering
✔️ What support, training and guidance foster carers receive

What makes us different?

Unlike most fostering agencies, we offer Skills to Foster training before the application and assessment process begins. We believe that anyone considering fostering deserves the opportunity to fully understand what fostering involves before making such an important decision.

This approach gives you valuable insight, allows you to ask questions in a supportive environment, and helps you make an informed choice about whether fostering is right for you and your family.

There is absolutely no obligation to proceed after attending.
