๐ŸŒณ Exciting improvements are coming to Diana Way Play Area in Caister! ๐Ÿ›

Today, our officers were on site to discuss plans for the future of the Diana Way play area and answer questions about the upcoming improvements.

Diana Way has been identified as one of the play areas set to benefit from the borough-wide ยฃ740,000 investment programme to improve play areas. The funding includes ยฃ323,129 from Great Yarmouth Borough Council, alongside ยฃ308,000 from the Government's Pride in Place programme and ยฃ90,000 in Section 106 developer contributions.

As part of the project, some existing equipment which has already been fenced off will need to be removed due to safety concerns. This work will take place ahead of the installation of new play equipment, while ensuring the play area can continue to be used wherever possible.

We're currently developing designs for the new-look play area and, once they're ready, we'll be sharing them with the community alongside Caister Parish Council.

๐ŸŒฟ Great news from Jubilee Court! ๐ŸŒฟ

Weโ€™re delighted to share that, thanks to a successful area grant application secured by our Tenancy Team, brand-new eco-friendly benches have been installed in the communal garden at Jubilee Court.

The new seating is already making a real difference, helping residents enjoy the outdoor space more comfortably and making it more accessible for everyone.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Residents have been sharing their positive feedback:

"Really good as the benches are eco-friendly, you've done a really good job."

"We now wonโ€™t have to carry chairs from upstairs into the garden area โ€“ the benches will come in really useful."

This project is a great example of how our Tenancy Team works alongside residents to enhance communal spaces and support thriving communities. The benches complement the fantastic gardening projects residents have been involved in, helping to create a welcoming outdoor area that everyone can enjoy.

Itโ€™s wonderful to see the positive impact that partnership, community spirit and a shared vision can have on a neighbourhood.

๐Ÿ‘ Well done to our Tenancy Team and the residents of Jubilee Court for helping to make this space even better for everyone.

๐ŸŽ‰ A Year of Service, Support and Community Spirit ๐ŸŽ‰

During his year as Mayor of Great Yarmouth Cllr Carl Annison raised an incredible ยฃ19,000 for his chosen charities through a packed programme of fundraising events and community activities.

The funds will support four fantastic local organisations:

๐Ÿ’™ Gorleston & Great Yarmouth Lifeboat
๐Ÿ’™ James Paget Hospital Charities
๐Ÿ’™ Dusmagrik Young People's Theatre
๐Ÿ’™ Gorleston & Great Yarmouth Memory Club

Throughout the year, the Cllr Annison worked to raise awareness and funds for these important causes, helping make a real difference to people across our community.

Alongside his fundraising efforts, Cllr Annison attended an astonishing 168 engagements, representing the borough at a wide range of events. From celebrating a resident's 111th birthday and taking part in civic ceremonies such as Remembrance services and two Freedom of the Borough's, to opening the new pier, attending community events across the borough and representing residents at engagements further afield, he has been a dedicated ambassador for Great Yarmouth.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported fundraising events, made donations and contributed throughout the year. Your generosity has helped achieve this fantastic total and demonstrates the incredible community spirit that makes our borough so special.

๐Ÿ‘ Congratulations and thank you, Cllr Carl Annison, for a remarkable year of service.

We now look forward to supporting the new Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Cllr Jade Martin, and wish her every success in the year ahead.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐ŸŒบ Thank you to everyone who joined us in St Georgeโ€™s Park today to commemorate D-Day.

Despite the wet weather, it was wonderful to see so many members of the community come together to remember and honour the bravery, sacrifice and service of those who took part in the D-Day landings and the wider Second World War.

The service, included prayers, readings, hymns, a two-minute silence and the laying of wreaths at the war memorial by the Her Worship the Mayor of Great Yarmouth, and other representatives.

D-Day, on 6 June 1944, marked the beginning of the Allied liberation of occupied Europe when almost 160,000 troops landed on the beaches of Normandy. It remains one of the most significant military operations in history and a powerful reminder of the courage, determination and sacrifice of those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped ensure that the service was a fitting tribute to those who gave so much.

โœจ A fresh new look for a piece of Great Yarmouth's history! ๐Ÿฐ

As part of the ongoing restoration work to our historic medieval town wall, the plaques along the route have been carefully refurbished, helping to preserve and showcase the stories behind one of the townโ€™s most important heritage assets.

These improvements are just one part of a wider programme of work to restore and enhance the town wall, ensuring it can be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.

Thereโ€™s still more to come, including the installation of new interpretation boards that will bring the history of the town wall to life and help people discover more about its fascinating past.

๐ŸŒฟ A touch of greenery has arrived in the Market Place! ๐ŸŒฟ

New planters have recently been installed and planted, helping to bring a fresh touch of greenery to the town centre and create a more welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.

We're looking forward to seeing the plants establish and flourish over the coming weeks, adding even more life and colour to the heart of our town. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒผ
