Together we will build a village that current and future generations can proudly call
home. Purpose of the Parish Council:
Great Ayton Parish Council aims to represent the best interests of the local
community to serve our village. Parish councils make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the local community. Probably the most common topics that parish councils get involved with are planning
matters (they are statutory consultees), crime prevention, managing community
assets such as Village Halls and open spaces, and campaigning for and delivering
better services and facilities. But they do have the ability
to negotiate with, and the power to influence, those other organisations that do make
the final decisions, for example, North Yorkshire council and the police. Our Commitment to the Community:
Great Ayton Parish Council represents the first tier of local government for our
community. Our role is to:
*Help ensure the long-term wellbeing and prosperity of our community
*Work with our local government partners to access and deliver services that
meet local needs
* Engage with and listen to the local community, so that we can make better
decisions
* Engage with the community to access wider services and voluntary
organisations
* Act with integrity in public office, keeping our communityโs best interests at
heart
Our Values:
We follow these values in how we work and serve the community:
1. Selflessness
2. Objectivity
4. Accountability
5. Openness
6. Honesty
