The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority draft Local Transport Plan has been published, and we would encourage you to respond to the consultation.

The Plan sets out the long-term vision, priorities, and policies for transport across the area and will help shape future investment and decision-making. Your views are important in ensuring the document reflects local needs and opportunities in North Yorkshire. Consultation open till 4th November.

Share your views as part of the Mayor's Local Transport Plan consultation. Transport is about much more than getting from A to B. It connects us to family, friends, educations, jobs, healthcare and leisure.

Please find below further information regarding the Tour of Britain that is coming to North Yorkshire on Saturday 5 September.

Race route
The vast majority of the race route will be managed under rolling road closures (typically up to 30mins) and further information can be found on our website. However, there will be some fixed closures on the race route;
• Greenhow Hill (Royal Oak Pub in Pateley Bridge to Greenhow Village) will be closed from 11am to 2pm (diversion route in place)
• B6160 Bishopdale (Streethead Inn to Buckden) will be closed south bound from 12.30pm to 2.30pm (diversion route in place)
• Greets Moss and Grinton Moor will be closed from 12.30pm to 3.30pm (diversion route in place)

Start (Helmsley)
• Castlegate will be closed from 6am to 12noon
• A170 will be open except from 10.45am to 11.15am when the race starts (rolling road closure)
• B1257 will be open throughout (but when A170 has rolling closures there will be delays)
• Part of the Cleveland Way Car Park (coach park and rear car park) will be closed from 6am to 12noon

Finish (Leyburn)
• Wensleydale Railway are running services from Leeming Bar and Bedale to Leyburn for the race finish – details can be found on their page
• Signed diversion routes will be in place for traffic in and around Leyburn (please allow extra time for your journey)

Polling District & Polling Places Review

From North Yorkshire Council:

Following changes introduced by the Local Government Boundary Commission, North Yorkshire Council is updating polling district boundaries and some polling places ahead of the May 2027 elections. This review ensures that polling arrangements remain appropriate, accessible and aligned with new parish ward boundaries.

The Local Government Boundary Commission has made changes to parish ward boundaries in 14, mainly larger, parishes. These revisions mean that several polling district boundaries must be updated, and some polling places adjusted, to ensure they align with the new arrangements.

We are asking for your views between 3 August and 12 October 2026. The proposals include updates to polling districts and changes to approximately 50–100 polling stations across the county.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you find it challenging to travel to or access your local polling station.

North Yorkshire Council have launched an online request tool allowing suggestions for EV charging locations across the county.

The suggestions they receive via this tool will be reviewed as part of their upcoming LEVI rollout in order to inform where there is demand for EV infrastructure provision. The EV Request Tool can be found on the following website:
