St. Goran Parish Council The official page for St. Goran Parish Council, Cornwall, UK The largest settlement in the parish is the coastal village of Gorran Haven.

St Goran Parish, bounded by the sea to the east and south, lies about six miles south-southwest of St Austell. Sitting in a valley, well off the beaten track, Gorran Haven is an unspoilt coastal village at the heart of which is a cluster of fishermen’s cottages, nestling around a secluded cove which remains much the same as in years gone by. A mile to the east there is a further cluster of homes at Trevarrick.

PUBLIC TOILETS
The Parish Council have recently acquired ownership of the public toilets, in Gorran Haven.
We are looking into refurbishing them and are looking to incorporate ideas to provide an income to keep them funded, to ensure they are kept open long into the future. They cost the Parish Council £13,000 per year to run.
This is where we need your help
The PC are thinking about separating some of the property, into a rentable space to provide a much, needed income.
Do you think this would be a good idea, and do you have any suggestions?

Please email the clerk - [email protected]

Please note, only sensible, positive suggestions, will be taken into account.

Welcome to our new page - one of the digital tools we've deployed to help the council to engage with & inform our Parish and local community.

We've also partnered with SeaDog.IT, a local digital agency that has experience working with councils to build an accessible new council dedictaed website that works well with mobile devices and that’s easy for our Clerk to keep up to date with news, meeting minutes and agendas.

There’s a handy section on planning applications local to the Parish and a News section with information relevant to the Council & the Parish. As our Neighbourhood Development Plan progresses, we'll be sharing information about NDP developments too.

Of course, if you’d like to suggest what other features or resources you’d like to see on the site, please let us know!

We treat everyone with courtesy and respect and ask the same in return. We ask that you treat your Councillors and Council Staff courteously without violence, abuse or harassment.

Councillors and Council Staff have the right to carry out their civic duties and work without fear of being attacked or abused. Any behaviour whether that be verbal, physical or in writing, which causes either Councillors or Council Staff to feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, or threatened, is totally unacceptable.

The Zero Tolerance Policy includes abuse, aggression or threats made in person, over the telephone or in written communication, including on social media. The Council considers threatening behaviour to be:

Attempted or actual aggressive, or physical actions made towards any Councillor or member of Staff. The use of aggressive , or abusive language (including raising of the voice, swearing, shouting or in writing) which threatens or intimidates Councillors or Council Staff. This Policy applies throughout all Council Meetings, but it also applies to any Councillor or Council Staff away from Council Meetings.

Do you work within the Creative Industries in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly or earn extra income through a creative passion alongside your day job?

Residents working in creative and cultural industries are being asked to take part a Creative Census to help build a picture of the sector locally.

Cornwall Council and Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership want to hear from anyone working within the creative sector – photographers, film makers, theatre technicians, crafters, games designers, architects and more!

Last year the Council launched Cornwall’s Creative Manifesto which followed work with the local cultural and creative sector and set in place a strategy for the creative economy between 2021 and 2025. The census forms part of this work and aims to gain a comprehensive picture of Cornwall’s creative industries landscape and to better understand our role as a leading rural creative economy. Responses will help identify potential opportunities, barriers to business growth and practical way to support the sector to flourish.

Stephen Rushworth, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for economy, said: “The creative industries are an important driver for economic growth and information from the survey will give us a valuable insight into the make-up of the sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

“Findings from the census will also mean we can take a strategic view on how we can advocate for our creative industry freelancers, businesses and organisations in the future.

“Cornwall is also bidding to become UK City of Culture 2025 and is one of the long-listed locations. Having high-quality data from this census is essential. It will help us underpin both why Cornwall needs the City of Culture award – and why we deserve it.”
