As part of our efforts to keep the village safe and tidy, our facilities team will be proactively trying to identify problems. They have divided the village into 4 zones that they will tackle zone by zone on a weekly basis. This will include use of the w**d ripper.
As part of this initiative we have created a new email [email protected] we encourage residents to use to feedback on issues they encounter in the village.

Watch out for the Pavement Piranha!

Help Make Walking in Goring Safer – Have Your Say
At the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Parish, you told us that Pedestrian Safety was a major concern and that it was something the Parish Council should address.

We’ve looked at a range of issues (including parking that is under review with OCC) and working with OCC we have identified five potential pedestrian safety improvements in the centre of the village. We’d like your views on which initiative (if any) should take priority. Based on responses we will develop more detailed plans for residents to look at.
The survey takes a couple of minutes.

You can read more about the proposed improvements and access the survey on our website here. https://goringparishcouncil.gov.uk/pedestrian-safety-improvement-projects/
Survey closes: August 31st

Goring Parish Council has submitted a planning permission application P26/S2070/FUL to resurface an existing path that is currently overgrown, running down the left (Grange) side of Ferry Lane Open Space to the river. Currently, this path is overgrown with w**ds and bushes, meaning people walk down the middle of the open space to the river. This route often gets very muddy. We want people to be able to enjoy the area more by using the path to the side, thus protecting the grass in the middle and improving the open green space. We are also looking to add benches and picnic tables as part of the path, and to complete an accessible walking loop from the centre of the village to the river. We are very grateful to Mend The Gap for their funding which is allowing this project to progress.
The application is open to comment https://southoxfordshire.planning-register.co.uk/Planning/Display?applicationNumber=P26%2FS2070%2FFUL.

The Government has confirmed that 3 unitary councils will be created for Oxfordshire and West Berkshire from April 1st 2028. Details at https://3councils.org

The government has announced that Oxfordshire and West Berkshire will move to three new unitary councils in 2028:

🔵 Greater Oxford Council – covering Oxford and its immediate surroundings.

🔵 Northern Oxfordshire Council – covering most of the existing Cherwell and West Oxfordshire districts.

🔵 Ridgeway Council – covering most of the existing South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse districts combined with West Berkshire.

These three new councils will replace the current seven councils.

Over the next two years, councils across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire will work together to set up the new councils while making sure services continue as normal.

Goring Bike Track Update

The Parish Council is developing plans for a Goring Bike Track. Unfortunately the charity Oxtrails cannot support us further at the moment owing to their workload and other commitments. They have given us a vital steer in the right direction though! We have been speaking to professional bike track design companies and inviting them to the village. Last week we hosted Ontrack (https://www.ontrack.cc ) and they are currently preparing a full design for us. Their initial plans look exciting, and have led us to consider more ambitious plans using a larger piece of land!

The Parish Council is making enquiries, and would like to hear from anyone who has a piece of land that they think might be suitable for a bike track project. Please email us- [email protected]
