North Lanarkshire Country Parks

North Lanarkshire Country Parks Welcome to the page for North Lanarkshire Council’s Country Parks; Strathclyde, Drumpellier and Palacerigg. October to March: Mon - Sun 10am - 4pm.

North Lanarkshire Council is home to three country parks; Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, Drumpellier Country Park in Coatbridge and Palacerigg Country Park in Cumbernauld. The parks each have several marked walking trails and many miles of surfaced footpaths through woodlands, wetlands and open parkland - ideal for those wishing to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. For more information regarding watersports activities and price lists please visit our website or call Strathclyde Park (contact details below). So come along to our country parks and enjoy exploring our nature trails, spotting wildlife, visiting our places of historic interest and letting the kids blow off steam on our outdoor adventure play areas. We're celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code by promoting responsible dog ownership.

With funding from NatureScot, new signs have been installed in our country parks to encourage dog owners to ‘Know the Code’, pick up dog waste and dispose of it responsibility.

Free biodegradable dog waste bags are also available at key locations across the area. Find out more at https://ow.ly/UZHl50ZKme1

Badger Watch at Palacerigg Country Park.
Come hang out with the Countryside Rangers for a fun walk and chat along the 'Badger Trail'! We'll head out to the viewpoint and, fingers crossed, you'll spot some of our shy badgers doing their thing. For now, here's a sneak peek at one of our lovely resident badgers.

What to bring: Throw on some comfy outdoor clothes and sturdy shoes. Sunscreen and midge repellent are a good shout, and if you've got binoculars, bring them along (we only have a few spares). Kids aged 8+ are welcome! Make sure to book your spot soon—there's only room for 12, so don't miss out. Drop us a line at [email protected] When: Wednesday, 5th August, 7pm till late
· Where: Meet up at the Visitor Centre at Palacerigg Country Park
· Parking: Plenty of room for your car at the park centre
· Facilities: Toilets are on site
· Dogs: Sorry, no dogs this time!

Hope to see you soon!
