EXCLUSIVE: Hundreds of people have protested outside BBC Scotland’s headquarters calling on the broadcaster and Western governments to act to prevent a 'genocide' of Kurdish people

24/01/2026

27 October 2025 β€” Extinction Rebellion Glasgow joined GGEC and pro-Palestine protesters outside BBC Scotland in Glasgow

The BBC has been consistently biased against Palestinians in coverage of the genocide in Gaza. According to a report from the Centre for Media Monitoring:

β€” Palestinian deaths are treated as less newsworthy than Israeli deaths
β€” More emotive language is used for Israeli victims than Palestinians
β€” Palestinian voices and perspectives are intentionally muffled

The BBC has also been negligently quiet about the largest prison hunger strike in the UK since 1981, despite covering similar actions in Tunisia, Ukraine, and Iran. Hunger strikers & Palestine Action activists Heba Muraisi and Kamran Ahmed ended their hunger strikes earlier this month after 73 days of protest

Extinction Rebellion's demand for truth about the climate and ecological crisis includes the truth about the persecution of peaceful protestors imprisoned despite not being convicted of any crime

18 Sept 2025 πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆ An unhappy birthday party for SPF

While the world burns, Strathclyde Pension Fund continues to fuel the fire. The fund holds millions in companies such as Shell, TotalEnergies, Eni, Airbus and Caterpillar that profit from climate collapse and the genocide in Gaza. These shares are active investments in destruction.

Strathclyde Pension Fund claims to act in the best interests of contributors β€” workers who spend their lives caring for others. But how does investing over Β£400 million in fossil fuels and arms manufacturers reflect the values of teachers, carers, and social workers? So we’re not asking, we’re demanding that Strathclyde Pension Fund divests from fossil fuels, divests from genocide, and divests from disaster.

Research has revealed that Eni, Shell and TotalEnergies are supplying oil to Israel and are complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people and in making the climate emergency worse through their continued fossil fuel projects. Likewise arms and aircraft manufacturers Airbus are fuelling both climate collapse and supplying arms used for genocide in Gaza.
