🚸 Zebra Crossing Update

Gildersome Parish Council continues to chase up the outstanding works and is pushing for the crossing to be completed as soon as possible.

We have been advised that the road marking works should commence on Thursday evening (27th August), with the lighting and beacons to follow at a later date.

We understand residents’ concerns, particularly with the new school year starting next week, and will continue to push for the remaining works to be completed promptly.

Thank you for your patience.

🌸 Can you help keep our flower tubs watered? 💦

With this lovely hot weather, our flower tubs around Gildersome are drying out very quickly! 🌞🌺

We are hoping kind local residents who live near one of the tubs and might be able to give them a little water when needed. Even a quick watering can make such a difference and help keep our village looking colourful and welcoming. 🌷💕

If you live near a flower tub and would be happy to help keep it watered during the hot weather we would be so grateful. It is such a mammoth task for the few regular volunteers and we are struggling.

Thank you so much for helping us look after our village flowers! 💚🌼

Every little bit helps! 🌿💦

🌳 Ash trees on Gildersome Green 🌳

As you may have seen, four ash trees on the Green have had to be cut down due to ash dieback.

Rather than remove the trunks completely, Gildersome Parish Council hopes to create something lasting for the community, with plans for two tall carved tree sculptures and two of the remaining stumps to be carved into seats. 🪵

A display has now been placed in the large notice board, showing photographs of the existing oak sculpture on the Green opposite Gildersome Primary School, together with information about the different carvings it contains. This is intended to give residents an idea of what the new sculptures could look like and help inspire ideas for their design. 🌳

💡 Do you have any ideas for themes or designs for the new sculptures?

We’d love to hear your suggestions. Please contact Gildersome Parish Council by email with your ideas:

🌻Gildersome Parish Council would like to recognise the Gildersome Brownies for creating this beautiful sunflower display.

The display is a wonderful addition to Gildersome and a lovely reflection of the creativity and community spirit of our local groups.

Well done to all the Brownies and leaders involved in creating such a fantastic display.🌻
