What a wonderful afternoon celebrating our volunteers at our Annual Volunteer Thank You Event at the Rouken Glen Pavilion!

🎶 Guests enjoyed beautiful live harp music from the Folk Music Project, took part in fun activities provided by Glasgow Science Centre and spent time together celebrating the amazing people who make our work possible.
To all of our volunteers: thank you for your dedication, kindness and commitment throughout the year. Your support makes a real difference to our community, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do. 👏

📢 We're Hiring: Marketing & Communications Officer

Join our team at an exciting time as we settle into our new collaborative community space at Rouken Glen Park.

We're looking for a proactive and confident communicator to lead our marketing and communications activity.

You’ll help improve how we share our programme activities and showcase our impact. This includes supporting the development of a new website and finding new ways to reach and engage local communities, volunteers, partners and funders.

Public Living Room in Barrhead

Neighbourhood Networks are hosting a welcoming Public Living Room - a relaxed space to connect, chat, and unwind.

As comes to an end, we want to say a huge thank you to all of the incredible volunteers who support our work and communities across East Renfrewshire. 💜

Every day, volunteers give their time, skills, experience, and energy to help make a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether you're supporting local groups, helping at events, sharing your expertise, or working behind the scenes, your contribution matters and your impact is felt throughout our communities. 🥰

We would also like to recognise the dedicated Trustees, Board Members, and Committee Members who volunteer their time to lead, guide, and support organisations across the third sector. 👏

And a special thank you to our own Board Members. Your leadership, support, and dedication play an important role in shaping our work and helping us make a lasting impact across East Renfrewshire. 🫶

Finding purpose through volunteering

Following a recent diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, David was keen to continue giving back to his community and maintain a sense of purpose in his everyday life 💙

With a strong background in volunteering, including roles with the Children’s Panel and a local food bank, David has always seen volunteering as a way of “giving back”, connecting with others, and maintaining independence.

With support from Talking Points, David explored a range of opportunities to find the right fit, something practical, hands-on, and meaningful. He is now volunteering at the Black Door Shop in Giffnock, where he helps welcome visitors, sort donations, and support the team each week. This role supports David’s wellbeing and helps him stay active, connected, and independent.

This positive outcome highlights the value of person-centred support. By focusing on David’s strengths and aspirations, he has been able to find a role that supports both his wellbeing and sense of identity.

David’s story is a reminder that a diagnosis does not define a person’s ability to contribute, and that meaningful roles in the community are still very much possible with the right support.

💜 Today we celebrate 🎉

Young people play a vital role in our community by building connections, supporting others, and helping create positive change every day.

During , we’re especially proud to recognise the incredible contribution of young volunteers across East Renfrewshire.

Through our Make It Happen programme, young people gained confidence, learned new skills and made a real difference. They supported local services and helped others feel more connected and included.
